Tower Bridge, or Tower Bridge (English Tower Bridge, literal translation - Tower Bridge) is a combined suspension (hanging) and folding (opening) bridge in the center of London over the Thames River, not far from the Tower of London. It is sometimes confused with the London Bridge[1], located approximately 0.8 km upstream. Construction began in 1886; opened in 1894. It is also one of the symbols of London and Britain.
Tower Bridge is one of five London bridges owned and maintained by the Bridge House Estates[en] charity, controlled by the City of London Corporation. The bridge consists of two bridge towers, connected at the upper level by two horizontal passages, designed to withstand the force of horizontal tension created by the suspended sections of the bridge on the sides of the towers. From 1977 until the restoration in the 2010s, the bridge was painted in red, white and blue colors. Later, its colors were restored to blue and white
