Installation of the Guinness project.

After weeks of fabricating and painting of this Guinness project the most challenging element was the installation.

Installed over 5 visits to site (I think, I've tried to forget about this bit) between the three of us we fitted all the elements of this job. This is arguably the most boring bit of a job but the most important, no one wants a 10ft ostrich falling on th whilst splitting the G.

Custom made wall plates fitted with threaded bar and chem fix then bolted into the side profile of each element. Lots of maths to work out load bearing, lots of drilling, lots of ups and downs the scissor lift, lots of singing.

Hell of a job.

Some BTS of The Guinness Clock(s).

Here's some snippets of what went on in the weeks leading up to the install.

All fabricated from aluminium in Wallasey before being hand painted in Garston this project took some serious hours to complete.

Loads of logistics on a project of this scale, as you can imagine. Which assets to reference, how to make it fit the wall, how to make a working clock(s), how many late nights in a week is manageable etc etc etc.

The shear size of everything was another challenge - having all this in the workshop at the same time was tight. I do miss having a life size ostrich kicking about though.

Would love to do more projects like this, particularly clocks...they're the new swing signs don't you know.

Arthouse Tattooing.

One from back in March for Han and Nik at Art House in Ormskirk.

Loved doing this one. Big bold hand drawn lettering in the boldest of colour schemes. Finished with some CNC cut cob webs at either end of the signs. Signboard painted off site and installed. Windows painted by Chrissy and me.

Fun job, cool shop to spend the day in - tattoo shops are the best. 🩷💚🩷

One from last summer. Probably the strangest job of 2025.

Got asked to do some signs for a pop up antique shop for TV. Painted the word "VEGAS" on the first day, completely made it up on the spot with a vague brief, no real plan. Just have to trust the process when a cameras is in your face all day questioning everything you're doing. The second day I painted some blag aged signs with "the end of the world is nigh", one of which was meant to look like someone had knocked it up in their shed.

Did two full days of filming, mic'd up, bits to camera, close ups, drone shots etc etc. Unfortunately none of it made the cut and I was referred to only as "a local signwriter" in my 3 seconds of fame. I wasn't even local, it was miles away. Funny really.

I've now officially retired from TV, don't think it's for me. Signs though - I'll paint them.

The Quarter has been open for 23 years and has never had a sign. Well, now it has!

Drawn by hand, painted by hand - my favourite way to work.

Nice one Gary and Colin for letting me do my thing ✨✨

We're halfway through 2026 already and it's been so hectic this is my first post since February.

Here's a snapshot of some jobs completed between New Year and Easter. Some good jobs which I'll follow up with some better photos later down the line, maybe even a reel. Who knows.

Thanks to all those keeping us busy - trust the brush. ✨✨✨

Seize the Clay.

One of the first jobs completed in 2026 for the lovely Em of across the water on the outskirts of Oxton.

Double fascia and internal wall all painted by Christine and me. Painted in the freezing cold, came out a treat.

Great project to be a part of. Can't wait to see this space up and running.
