Instagram is currently working on a few upgrades that seem to be an attempt to compete with BeReal.

It has already made a dual camera effect available, and recent updates indicate that it is working on Glimpse, a function that essentially combines BeReal's candid image sharing tool with Stories.

Most recently, Instagram has been experimenting with a new DM tool called roll call. Participants in the conversation have five minutes to contribute a picture or video to a roll call that has been posted by another user. These also have a 24-hour expiration date, like Stories.

The roll call poster may at any time delete their message. Others who have added cannot view those who have responded. Instagram has not yet issued a statement on these updates.

If Instagram can't get its hands on the most well-liked things from its rivals, it is known to copy them. The most well-known example is of course Stories, from Snapchat.

However, it is unknown how well Glimpse and the roll call feature will do among Instagram's user population, especially considering their needs on this are met elsewhere already.

The unexpected increase in BeReal's popularity indicates the desire for spontaneity and authenticity in the content we share on social media. The first response was Stories, but over time the format evolved to include filters, music, Highlights, and advertisements, making it less ephemeral.

It's possible that Glimpse and Roll Call will cause a new upsurge in ephemeral Instagram material. Their emphasis on exclusivity and being "in the moment" presents chances for businesses to forge links with devoted followers and exhibit their humanity.

The whole world seems to be losing their mind over Twitter's blue ticks. Elon has been up to tricks again, but this time, ticks are changing...

The most recent news is that the revamped Twitter Blue will relaunch on December 2 with three checkmarks: grey for public officials, gold for businesses, and blue for all other users, famous or not.

Before the check mark appears, Twitter will manually validate these, claims Musk. He adds that a different verified logo designating this can be applied to individual accounts belonging to an organisation.

We have a feeling this will be the last rearranging of the chairs, and don't be surprised if we begin to see homogenisation of the tick colours across different platforms in the very near future, especially as they themselves face monetisation problems like the Bird.

According to reports, Twitter's most recent update under its new CEO Elon Musk would make verification a paid function.

Twitter Blue, the platform's premium subscription tier with more features, currently costs USD $4.99 a month, or its equivalent in local currencies, however according to reports, Twitter Blue might gain a new tier in as short as a week for $19.99 per month that includes verification. Users who have already been verified must make a payment within 90 days to keep their blue tick.

Twitter hasn't formally confirmed the update, but Musk has already declared his intention to boost subscription-based revenue for the company. To entice users to subscribe, the new Twitter Blue tier would need to include advantages beyond authentication, such as improved reach. It doesn't appear to be well-liked among Twitter users. More than 600,000 people responded to a Twitter poll, and 79% of them stated they wouldn't pay anything at all to get a blue check mark.

Love them or hate them, QR codes have now been adopted into the main and actually, thanks to digital homogenisation in places, the QR code experience and ecosystem as a whole is generally much more effective and efficient these days.

According to reports, Instagram has now made it possible to create QR codes for posts, tags, locations, and reels.

Using the three-dot menu in the app, users can now find a QR code sharing option. Web users can also produce a code by adding "/qr" to a post's URL.

While QR code sharing has long been a function for profiles, this is the first time Instagram has made it available for specific posts.

Meta has recently announced six new audience segments for B2B marketers, when advertising.

The segments are - IT decision-makers, business decision-maker titles and interests, business decision-makers and three segments for admins of new active businesses created in the last six, 12 or 24 months.

Audience segments are based on users’ job titles and interests, with the business decision-maker segment focused on those in the engineering/IT, operations, HR, strategy and marketing industries.

GOOD NEWS! 😍 Reels are now available to be boosted on Instagram, which will dramatically increase their visibility in feed, stories, the reels tab, and the explore page.

Reels that qualify must be under 60 seconds long and have a 9:16 aspect ratio when filmed in full-screen vertical mode.

Additionally, they cannot include GIFs, interactive stickers, face/camera filters, or music that is protected by copyright nor can they be shared to Facebook.

Users of TikTok will soon be able to customise the ad topics they see. TikTokers can view a list of implied interests based on the data collected by the app, which determines the advertising users see, in the Ads Personalisation area of user settings. Users can turn off personalised advertising for each topic displayed. It takes 48 hours for changes to take effect.

TikTok's powerful technology, which provides users with hyper-personalized content, draws marketers.

The ideal posting time for Facebook can be difficult to determine, but the latest study from Sprout Social does just that.

Our delivery partner, Sprout Social created a global overview for 2022 as well as a breakdown by industry, including media, tech, consumer goods, and hotel, using first-party data.

The analysis determined that, globally, Tuesday through Friday were the greatest days to post and that Saturday was the worst, except on Thursdays, when 10am and noon were preferable, the ideal hour was 3am.

What does this mean for brands and marketers?

πŸ€” It is a good idea to base your posting strategy on these findings, but keep in mind that this is a global study.

πŸ• Also keep in mind that Facebook's global audience is active in the early morning hours; for instance, 3am Central Standard Time corresponds to 9am in the UK.

So while creating a publishing schedule, it's important to take into account extra elements like whether you're local or worldwide, your individual audience's preferences, and your particular industry.

Use the recommendations for your industry from Sprout Social here. Generally speaking, weekdays, especially Friday, from mid-morning to noon are the greatest times and days to post across 10 industries. Weekends are the worst.
