Well, if this isn’t just a classic slice of Vale of Glamorgan loveliness, I don’t know what is! You’ve got the rolling fields, freshly shorn, with those beautiful, golden hay bales dotted about like giant, rustic marshmallows. Proper countryside vibes right there.
And then your eyes are drawn to the star of the show (well, one of them anyway!). In the distance, standing proud, is the iconic Nash Point Lighthouse. Such a reassuring sight, always there, watching over the coast. You can just about make out the coastline stretching away, meeting that big, moody sky – a proper British summer’s day sky, that. A bit of drama but still plenty of light breaking through to illuminate the scene.
It’s one of those views that just grabs you, isn’t it? Makes you want to pull up a deckchair, crack open a brew, and just soak it all in. Always a pleasure pointing my new Canon EOS R in this direction! Just there, sprawled out in a patch of glorious sunshine, were three little lambs. Not a care in the world, just soaking up those rays.

Right then, you lovely lot – here’s a favourite from a recent wander along the Heritage Coast. I hoofed it from Southerndown to Nash Point, and right in the heart of it all—Traeth Mawr—this beauty stopped me in my tracks.

There’s just something about this one…
The tide washing silky smooth over the rocks (thank you, long exposure), the cliffs standing proud in the background, and that gorgeous coastal light doing exactly what a landscape photographer dreams of. It’s the kind of scene that makes you breathe a bit deeper, isn’t it?

And get this—it might be one of the last shots I ever take with my trusty Canon 5D Mark III! After years of loyal graft, it’s time to welcome the Canon EOS R to the team. Bittersweet, but I’m buzzing to see what magic it brings.

If you’re feeling as smitten with this one as I am, you can now snag a print over on my website. Treat your walls to a bit of Welsh coastal drama! 🌊

Waiting for a Bite at Ogmore…
Back in April, I captured this tranquil moment at Ogmore beach—two fishermen, lost in the rhythm of the tide and the gentle hush of the sea breeze. There’s something timeless about this stretch of coastline, where the sky always seems to spill generously over the sea.

This peaceful scene might just find its way into my 2026 DLJ Photography Calendar, which is shaping up beautifully and—fingers crossed—should be ready for sale by September. If you enjoyed last year’s coastal moments, you’re going to love what’s coming next…

Let me know if this is one you’d like to see in the calendar!
Pre-orders will be open soon—watch this space.

Here’s a Facebook post for your image, crafted by an expert social media photographer:
Blast from the Past! Throwback to an unforgettable early morning at Stout Point, Llantwit Major, back in 2021!
There’s something truly magical about watching the dawn break over the rugged Welsh coastline. This capture from a few years ago still gives me all the feels – the dramatic cliffs bathed in that soft, golden light, the waves crashing against the shore, and those vibrant yellow wildflowers adding a pop of colour to the scene.
It’s moments like these that remind me why I love getting up before the sun. The peace, the raw beauty, and the incredible light are just unparalleled.

When you’re just trying to fetch the car… and end up in a postcard.
I was half-asleep, on a mission for the motor, when this sun-drenched stable strutted into view like it was auditioning for a period drama.

Didn’t expect to be stopped in my tracks by barn glamour, but here we are.
Note to self: always take the scenic route — even if it’s just to get your car back

Moody blues and golden sands on the Dunraven to Monknash walk today. 🌦️ Absolutely love how the light plays on this stretch of the coast. Good company and epic views – what more could you want? Shame I have to go to work today. ”

Right then, chaps and chapesses! Dug this little beauty out from the archives and given it a fresh lick of digital paint this week. This was a good few years back now, down at Nash Point. You know what they say, after the heavens have well and truly opened and given everything a good soaking, that’s when the magic happens with the light. And crikey, didn’t it just! The clouds were still doing their dramatic thing, all moody and magnificent, but then the sun just sneaks through and paints everything in these bonkers colours. Makes you glad you lugged the old Canon 5D Mark III out in the first place, doesn’t it? Worth getting a bit soggy for, that’s for sure. [www.dljphotography.co.uk](www.dljphotography.co.uk)

Southerndown to Monknash: rocks, sand, and a whole lot of scrambling! Toby (the red lab) and I were rewarded with THIS sunset. The sky just exploded! Worth battling the tide for. Now, off to the Plough & Harrow for a well-deserved pint. 🍻 ”

Right folks, hold onto your hats, because this sunset was a proper belter! After a day of dodging overpriced parking at Weston and a bit of ICM experimentation, Ogmore decided to put on a show. These riders, silhouetted against that fiery sky, just topped it all off. Pure magic!

Right folks, had a bit of a go at something different down at Ogmore the other evening. Intentional Camera Movement, or ICM for short. A bit of a gamble, really, blurring the lines and all that. But I reckon it’s turned out alright.

It’s like capturing a memory, isn’t it? All soft colours and dreamy vibes. The waves are like whispers, and the whole scene’s got a painterly feel to it, a bit like a Turner seascape, but with a modern twist.

Ogmore, with that wild beauty, was the perfect place to experiment. Sometimes, you’ve just got to try something new, take a risk, and see what happens. And this one, well, it’s definitely got me thinking.

Fancy a proper read about it? Head over to dljphotography.co.uk to check out the blog.

From Weston’s parking woes (£7 for 5 mins? Seriously?) to Ogmore’s golden hour glory. Sometimes, the best adventures are the unplanned ones. Ogmore delivered a sunset that was pure magic, with hardy fishermen, dreamy ICM experiments, and riders silhouetted against a fiery sky. Swipe to see the story! See the blog on my web site
