๐Ÿ™ŒNothing makes us happier than seeing satisfied clients๐ŸŽ‰!
Containerville is an incredible partner we've had the pleasure of working with that empowers small business owners with affordable workspaces in Central London.

They use upcycled shipping containers to provide business owners with completely customisable workspaces that are also environmentally friendly.

Before working with us they were struggling to acquire customers or enquiries at an effective cost through their existing digital marketing efforts.

After a quick audit, we identified some areas of significant improvement.

Within 5 months we've taken them back to full capacity and now their waiting list is growing!

We're now working with them to improve their internal marketing data reporting to allow them to manage new enquiries even more effectively than before.

If your Startup or SME (Small to medium-sized Business) is looking to grow through laser-targeted marketing strategies, do not hesitate to send us a message or comment below to see if we can help you!

If you want to see the strategy that allowed them to go back to being completely filled with tenants, comment below and we'll send over the detailed case study!

UGC is all the rage now, not just for building brand awareness but also for generating adverts that actually convert in paid media campaigns. โฃ
โฃ
So make sure when you select your influencers not to just find the cheapest ones you can find, but to check and see if they actually get the platform. Their previous posts should be a great indication of this.โฃ
โฃ
Donโ€™t worry so much about their follower count or how viral their posts became, because thereโ€™s too many other variables that go into account especially if theyโ€™re going to be promoting your particular product. โฃ
โฃ
Check their tone of voice and creativity. Does the content feel โ€œnativeโ€ to you? If youโ€™re not sure what native means, just spend some time on the relevant platforms whether itโ€™s TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram etc. โฃ
โฃ
The whole point of UGC is that it feels organic and natural so if your influencer struggles with this in other videos he/she has created, they could also have a hard time when it comes to promoting your products. โฃ
โฃ
Ultimately youโ€™ll have to test them out to see how theyโ€™ll handle promoting your product, but it doesnโ€™t hurt to pick up on a few telltale signs to see if theyโ€™re a good fit.

Sell futures not features.

When crafting highly converting video adverts, with so many moving parts, sometimes you can lose sight of why our customers actually purchase our products.

Itโ€™s never just about the physical product itself, how many bells and whistles are attached or however many things it can do.

All of that is meaningless if your audience canโ€™t see how it takes them to their desired state.

We only ever buy anything if we feel it will take us to a state that we are not already in.

Whether thatโ€™s makeup to make us feel better in our skin, or supplements to make us healthier, humans are always striving towards or running from a state.

Sure, for some products and for more aware audiences it may make sense to list out your features since that audience may already be aware of how that ultimately benefits them, but they are the exception and not the norm.

There is no one who will speak better for you than your existing customers.

So itโ€™s no wonder that weโ€™ve seen testimonial videos perform best in both advertising campaigns and overall brand awareness.

That said, your customers arenโ€™t always trained to express themselves in the clearest of ways.

Oftentimes we find that even brands that have raving customers donโ€™t always speak succinctly, clearly or even seem that enthusiastic!

So founders are often dismayed when they get a lot of content that doesnโ€™t seem usable.

Thatโ€™s where a testimonial mashup can come in handy.

Instead of focussing on what ONE single customer has to say, you can draw out the best bits from what each of your customers has said.

Not only does this make for a better video, you also have more permutations and combinations to play with, increasing their longevity in your campaigns.

Another brilliant question from one of our wonderful partners so I decided it had to be addressed.

We recently started a lead gen campaign for a client in order to convert from the email list and I got asked why we don't recommend going for link-click campaigns.

After all the cost per click was far cheaper in the past than our existing conversion campaigns on Facebook.

And It's true, link click campaigns generate clicks up to 10 times cheaper.

But what ultimately matters is the conversion rate of that traffic.

Say you're able to get traffic 10 times cheaper but it converts 20 times less, what you've done is create a campaign that is actually twice as expensive.

Don't get fooled by the upfront numbers in your conversion campaigns whether you're going for leads for a list or for purchases.

In our experience across Facebook and Google, traffic style campaigns/link click campaigns convert even worse than 20 times as much as link click campaigns and it's why we tend to stay clear of them unless we just cannot get conversion campaigns to work.

When you ask Facebook or Google for link clicks, it will give you just that, people who just click links.

You might ask yourself who on earth just goes on social media to click on links without any intention to buy, but the world is a large place and after millions in ad spend we've learned the hard way the consequences of not considering the second order consequences of low-quality traffic.

Did you ever have a boss or team members that took all the credit for the hard work you did?

If organic marketing for DTC brands was a person, it too might feel a bit like that disgruntled employee or team member.

Performance digital marketing has become increasingly pay to play and slower traditional methods of growing an audience are garnering less and less attention.

Understandably, paid methods reveal far more trackable data and metrics than organic methods ever could.

But as on one of our performance report meetings with one of our DTC clients showed, organic marketing can sometimes be a huge driver of conversions.

Whilst ad Platforms like Facebook and Google can and often will drive that initial look into your brand, weโ€™re finding across the board that as many as half the clicks on ads are actually going to organic pages like your Facebook or Instagram page, blog posts etc.

In other words, consumers are checking you out whether you like it or not!

So donโ€™t neglect your organic marketing!

Just because you canโ€™t track and see the immediate benefit of the efforts, your customers are watching and itโ€™s informing their buying decisions.

โฃ
A pretty terrible comparison, but hey, maybe it got your attention.โฃ
โฃ
The point here is that consumers are increasingly drawn, not just by your physical product itself, but also by what got you to that point.โฃ
โฃ
As you grow your customer base, even if they donโ€™t say it, your consumers are fascinated by why you started your brand and what you stand for.โฃ
โฃ
So donโ€™t be scared to share your story on your socials. Be it why you started your brand, what you hate about the industry youโ€™re in, anything that shows your audience thereโ€™s a mission behind the products.โฃ
โฃ
Too often this story gets left to collect dust on โ€˜aboutโ€™ sections of websites.โฃ
โฃ
Weโ€™ve noticed some of the highest converting and engaging posts can be when the founders speak openly and honestly about their values. โฃ
โฃ
Even if it doesnโ€™t convert right away, itโ€™s a surefire way to bond closer to your existing customers and really maximise those relationships and a cheeky bit of Lifetime Value on the side too. โฃ

Everyone talks about the importance of a good hook in a video advert that actually converts to generate sales, but I donโ€™t see as much information on how to actually create one.โฃ

There are 3 ways to get peopleโ€™s attention on video, no matter the platform.โฃ

Simply showcase someone using your product from start to finish. If you have great packaging, show it off.
If you have software, show off your great welcome tutorials and user interface etc. โฃ
โฃ
Make sure to showcase user delightโฃ
People buy off of emotion, not just logic. โฃ

Another way of reeling your target audience in is to show that you understand their problems.
Human psychology is wired such that if someone else expresses their problems better than they can, they instantly feel a connection. โฃ
โฃ
Hope that helps as much as itโ€™s helped me and let me know your thoughts!

Asking if customer acquisition or retention is more important for a DTC E-commerce brand is somewhat like asking if air or water is more important to survival.

Everything matters and a chain is only as strong as the weakest link.

That said, some elements will matter more depending on where the bottleneck is.

Some brands have a loyal raving fanbase ready to buy any new product that comes out. Itโ€™s just that finding those customers is a bit tricky.

For others, thereโ€™s not as much of an opportunity to cross sell due to the nature of the product, timing in the brandโ€™s development, or for whatever other possible reason. In that case, steady customer acquisition could be a higher priority.

In our experience, it helps to not shoehorn a solution because it worked for someone else.

Everyoneโ€™s path is different, and critical thinking is required to ascertain if the proposed solution is the appropriate one.

We speak to dozens of brand owners regularly that say they want to โ€˜fix their ad creativeโ€™ when their landing page doesnโ€™t even convert above 1% for a $50 product. Or founders that want to improve their customerโ€™s loyalty when theyโ€™re already buying multiple times a year from them.

Consider where the next bottleneck for your brand is and work to improve that.

They say 99% of problem-solving is problem identification.

Easier said than done, but that may be why itโ€™s not for the faint-hearted.

In a world where eyes are starting to glaze over social media posts and emails are being left unread, eyes are starting to turn, or should we say return to an older advertising medium.

Good olโ€™ fashioned text messages.

Why SMS?

Firstly itโ€™s a far more intimate form of communication. Since you have to get people to opt into SMS marketing, it opens the doors to people who actually want to hear your message and what youโ€™re up to. They also feel they have more control and will be more receptive.

It also has higher open rates since there arenโ€™t as many filters as there are on email. This means

Just make sure you follow best practices when sending SMS to your customers

1. Make it easy for your customers to opt in and out of your messages
2. Give clear concise short messages. Aim for 150 words or less
3. Give new information each time. These will be your most loyal customers so make sure to tell them something they donโ€™t know about you.

Let us know if you have any questions about this wonderful medium of communication!
