At WildKat PR, we’re proud to be a team that values the different experiences, perspectives and stories that shape the work we do. We’re taking a moment to reflect on the importance of support, connection and care during the early days of parenthood. 🩷
Our Marketing Director, Hana, and our Founder, Kat have kindly shared their reflections on breastfeeding, early parenthood and the importance of support during these moments of change.
“Double mastitis, severe tongue-tie, clogged ducts, hospital grade pumps, pink milk and constant pain for 2 months didn’t stop me. It was the support and kindness of my breastfeeding support worker telling me the simple words - happy mama, happy baby - that made me realise that sometimes, things just don’t work out and it’s not because I failed! Second time round with my youngest kid, it was a totally different journey - a kid that just wouldn’t take no for an answer. Again, the NHS support workers and midwives were absolutely wonderful with their patience, support and expertise.” - Hana, Marketing Director.
“I was back online for work within two hours of giving birth, figuring out nice outfits weeks later, driving while pumping, calling clients while pumping. My staff knew the sound well. I once spent so long in an airport bathroom that security flagged me as a potential bomb threat. I know the bond can be beautiful. I really do. But I also think we spend so much energy worrying about what other people think — and not enough listening to what feels right for us. The second time around, I stopped caring about perception. I knew what I was doing. I was just more myself.” - Kat, Founding Director.
The early days of parenthood can bring many new experiences and challenges, and it’s important that new parents feel supported not only at home, but also in the wider spaces and communities around them.
