So January is moving fast and hopefully you've got your plans for this year in progress.

Having reflected on the past year and looking at some of the challenges small businesses face, the one that stood out most was reaching the right people for your business and developing messaging that matters most to them.

The spray and pry approach just doesn't cut it. It's a waste of effort and this type of wastage negatively affects your return on marketing investment.

It's time to think and act smarter and to be clearer about who you need to target🎯.

Here are some useful tips to put into practice:

💥 Be really roofless about who is going to use or buy your service or product. Do you offer something they really want and need ?

💥 Now you might come up with a long list but it's important to refine this until you identify those who are your best prospects. What behaviours do they embody to meet the criteria of being your best prospects?

💥Now you're ready to play! Start to visualise and build a profile of your audience, making sure that you identify their likely problems and need states that your product or service can solve.

💥Think about the brands or companies they be using now. What's the general sentiment? Good, bad or indifferent? Are tou the business that can successfully fill in the gap? Seek out groups and forums to get this feedback.

💥 Now that you have a refined audience, test different creatives and messages and monitor what performs best. This is the ideal way to save money in the long run believe me!

💥There's no point having a target audience and a great message and creative if you don't know where to reach them, and the reality is believe or not, IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA. Yes I said it loool!

A multi channel approach always works best because guess what consumers aren't linear. In a world where everything is always on, you may find that physical communications or in person networking are valuable additions to your media mix to help your messages cut through. The point here is don't put lo your eggs in one basket!
