🎪 Meet the Creative Team at Circus
In this series, we’re introducing some of the people who design, develop and produce the virtual experiences our clients rely on.
Next up: from our brilliant web development team, James
James is methodical and eagle-eyed, with more than 12 years of experience ensuring every build is robust, accessible and delivered to the highest standards.
We asked James a few questions. Here’s what he had to say 👇
🔮 In 2026, what will the very best virtual experiences look like - and why?
The best virtual experiences in 2026 will be defined by one simple idea: they’ll be designed for everyone.
Accessibility will be a core principle rather than an afterthought. That means experiences that work across devices, are easy to navigate, and are usable by people with different abilities, languages, and levels of technical confidence.
They’ll also feel like a natural extension of a brand, rather than a standalone piece of content. The most successful virtual environments will reinforce the brand’s identity, storytelling and values.
Artificial intelligence and personalisation will also play a growing role in making these experiences richer and more flexible.
🛑 What assumption about virtual experiences is quietly holding brands back?
The belief that virtual experiences “aren’t for their audience.”
Many organisations still associate immersive digital experiences with specific sectors - gaming, entertainment, or technology - when in reality, almost any industry can benefit from them. The key is not the technology itself, but how it’s used to solve a real communication challenge.
Another misconception is that virtual experiences require expensive VR headsets or specialist equipment. While VR can certainly add another layer of immersion, most modern experiences can run directly in a web browser. That means anyone with a laptop, tablet, or smartphone can explore them instantly.
🚀 What excites you most about where web development is heading, and how does that translate into better outcomes for clients?
One of the most exciting developments in web technology is how much more we can now do directly in the browser.
In the past, immersive experiences often required downloads, plugins, or specialised software. Today, modern browsers are powerful enough to handle complex 3D environments and interactive features on their own. That opens the door to virtual experiences that feel like a natural extension of a company’s website rather than a completely separate platform. For clients, that means a far more seamless journey for their users.
At the same time, improvements in consumer devices mean better performance and smoother interactions. The average laptop or smartphone today is far more capable than it was just a few years ago, allowing richer experiences to run reliably across a wide range of devices.
