95% of sales pitches fail.

What do the 5% do right that the 95% miss?

Put simply the pitch isn’t speaking to the right part of our brain.
We’ve all been there. They’re on their phones, the email is pinging and mid-pitch someone has a question that has nothing to do with the pitch.

‘Hey, what time is the X meeting today?’

Making us want to scream ‘What the hell does that have to do with this?’

We have the curse of knowledge as a presenter. We’ve put the hours in to understand the project, the product, and/or the client's situation.

Knowing this means we jump straight into logic. We logically walk through our concept and guess what … you’ve lost them.

The problem here is we don’t engage with logic. Our brain at its core is still the same from our survivalist days.

When we were running from lions and hunting or gathering. The problem is we’re not hunting or running now. Yet our brain hasn’t changed.

There are two parts of the brain.

The Primitive brain and the Evolved brain.

The evolved brain loves problems. It’s how we got to where we are.

The primitive brain however has to assess the information in front of us quickly (see Lion. Run. See tree, safe don’t run).

If our concept, pitch, or pattern will take a lot of brain power to understand, then we need to give the primitive brain a good reason to process it. Otherwise, it’ll say ‘This is too much, I need to save energy so ignore’

The issue isn’t that your pitch is bad, it’s just not hitting the right points. Tweaking the primitive brain's interest is how your pitch hits the right points and isn’t just another 95%.

So what do you choose? The excuse or action?

Particularly in the business world, we are obsessed with finding a reason why something isn't working for us.

For me, I much prefer to choose action.

Action means we're taking those steps to move ourselves forward.

It's what I do in my business, it's what I do in others business and that's how I get them to move forward.

Building a brand is a marathon, not a sprint. It's one thing we've got to understand.

We're in this for the long haul. It is ultimately a dedication to what makes you unique.

Words like target audience, USP, and unique selling point, are not just buzzwords. These are your compass, which will guide you on your journey to business success.

So picture this scene, you're asked to speak at an event.

However, you don't know who's attending or why they've come, and you don't know why they've come to see you in particular.

Where would you start? I'm already thinking it's nigh on impossible to think where to start. So my approach is a simple one. It's not easy but it is simple.

Set time aside to focus on the critical factors. Your market and then your message. then once defined, get to work.

We can only stay so long in the theoretical stage, we have to now move into the action stage. It's not about overnight success, it's about consistent dedicated work and above all taking those actionable steps.

Once you're clear on your market and what you offer, the path forward is clear.

The question is, are you ready to achieve those new heights? Are you ready to move past the excuses and step into the world of action?

Start on your target market, move to your USP, and get clarity on those and you'll start to see everything shift and ultimately align.

If you're looking for guidance and help on this and want to share, I'll share some thoughts, drop a comment below, or ultimately ping me a message and I'll be sure to get back to you with some help. Let's build a brand on a foundation of action, not excuses.

Create a connection. Be memorable, be consistent.

If we're going to be telling the truth, the market has never been busier.

Your competitors are no longer local, they're international.

So now your message needs to be even more unique to make sure it stands out.

Let's ensure you don't become another statistic, another face in the market.

Let's turn your story into a successful one.

How do we do that James?

Well, there are two ways we can do that.

We can be memorable and we can be consistent.

That is the golden ticket to being the standout in your marketplace.

Whether on social media or on your website, your branding needs to be uniform. That's gonna be giving you that consistency.

It's no longer just about being there. It's now about being noticed.

Imagine your brand as a beacon shining across social media platforms, pointing directly to you, pointing back to you, and telling them exactly why they should be speaking to you.

It should be eye-catching, something that sticks in people's minds, we want to keep you at the forefront of their minds.

Why?

Because there's this endless scrolls, there's the clicks, we need to make sure that we get them to stop, we get them to pause, we get them to notice your brand above all else.

Consistency is key. Every ad and every profile is a chance to imprint your brand into the minds of your audience.

Be memorable. It's about sparking curiosity, making people lean in and think I need to know more about this.

Remember this, it's not about selling, it's about creating an impression and the connection has to go beyond that transaction.

What Sets Your Business Apart?

Ever wondered what truly makes you stand out in a crowded market? It's not just about being the cheaper option anymore. Today, it's about bringing something unique, something more.

You see, in a world where everyone is shouting to be heard, your unique voice will capture attention. It's about digging deep and asking, 'What makes my product or service different?' It's not just about what you offer, but how you offer it. This is the secret sauce to building a successful business.

Think about it. What do you provide that others don't? Is it exceptional customer service? An innovative product feature? Or maybe an experience that no one else can replicate?

Do your homework. Look at your competitors. How much are they charging? What are they offering? This isn't about copying them. It's about understanding the market and then going a step further.

Now, take that insight and go back to your strategy. Market your business focusing on what sets you apart. This isn't just selling a product or service. It's about selling an experience, a value, a solution that no one else can.

So, ask yourself, what makes you different? Find that, embrace it, and let the world know. Because in the end, it's your unique story that will make people choose you over others.

5 Must-Have Ingredients for Building a Successful Brand.

For me, cooking is a great way to not only eat good food but also learn something new.

Just like cooking, building a brand requires specific ingredients for success.

Hustle, hustle, hustle.

It can sound exhausting, right?

While I understand the importance of hard work, sacrifice, and a never-say-die attitude for business success, I have some concerns about the notion of "the hustle" being heavily promoted by influencers.

Ironically, their solution seems to be "If you're not hustling 24/7, buy our product so you never have to hustle again!"

I find several issues with this, particularly with the concept of a "side hustle."

Firstly, if something is your potential way out of a job you dislike or your key to success in life, calling it a side hustle suggests it's not your main focus. Shouldn't your future occupy at least 80% of your attention?

Secondly, a side hustle implies something small and peripheral. But why limit your future to something confined or insignificant? Your future should be a realm of endless possibilities, unbounded by constraints.

Let's shift our perspective, stop hustling, and start envisioning grander possibilities while focusing on shaping a brighter future.

Stop running.

Are you struggling to grow your business?

Feeling overwhelmed with doing everything yourself and having a small team?

Transitioning from being a worker to becoming a business owner can be challenging. It takes time, patience, and a lot of education. I understand the fear and uncertainty that comes with it because I've been there too. But let me tell you, there are simple steps you can take to make the changes you know you need to make.

Step 1: Admit. Acknowledge the issues or fears in your business. Just like in AA, admitting is the first step towards overcoming challenges. Once you recognize there's a problem, you're already on your way to finding solutions.

Step 2: Alter your behavior. Start operating as if you are already the type of business you aspire to be. You'll be surprised by how quickly you can transform into that vision.

Step 3: Find help. It can be a lonely journey when you're trying to do it all alone. While some may get there eventually without assistance, with the right guidance, you'll reach your goals faster. The return on investment will be worth it.

Remember, you already know what you know, but now it's time to learn what you don't.

Let's empower ourselves, embrace the future possibilities, and take our businesses forward.

The psychology behind Engagement.

The art of getting people to give a f*ck about what you're saying and therefore why you are there.

Find out how a client of mine transformed his team into leaders, and made a lot of money doing it in ONE simple action.

Storytellers, movie makers have managed to captivate us since the beginning of time.

Why does it then seem so difficult when we’re trying to bring a team together?

If you are coming into a business or have been put into a position of power you’ll probably know what I mean.

You have your ideas, they’re great ideas, so why is it so hard to convince others?

Here’s why…there’s no GAP to fill.

Take any film directed by Christopher Nolan (Batman’s Dark Knight among many others), and you’ll see he starts with the end and works the audience from there.

When you start with the end guess what?

People lean in and go ‘How did they get there?’

BAM! That my friend is Engagement 101.

However, we’ve only piqued their interest, we need a plan mapped out in such a way that keeps them glued.

Signposts work best in titles or phrases which refer to a chapter or stage of our progress.

It needs to be clear and language which is shared.

In the case of my client above, the language within the business was plain and straight talking, therefore we removed all jargon and stuck to terms that needed no explanation.

So how did my client manage to turn his team from steady worker bees to alpha leaders?

Simple.

At the beginning of every meeting, he shared the company’s vision for the future.

This way he transported his team to the end and from here backed filled the GAP with his plan to get there.

It’s simple, but not easy.

Communication is key for business, yet something we’re rarely taught. Get it right and you unlock hidden potential.

If you found this useful then drop me a follow and I’ll share more insight into business, its communication, and how to connect with those on the inside as well as the outside.
