You don't need a fancy strategy document. You don't need complicated workflows. You don't even need a massive content calendar.

What you need is a notebook and 30 minutes every Sunday.

Quick question: When was the last time you read every word of a business post?

If you're anything like most people, you probably skim-read it. (No offence taken if you're skim-reading this right now! 😉)

This is why we teach our clients the 'cuppa test' - if someone can't understand your main message in the time it takes to make a cup of tea, it needs simplifying.

Try this: Before you post anything, imagine explaining it to a mate over a brew. Would they get it? Would they care? Would they remember it?

Had a proper light bulb moment with a client today that I just had to share...

We'd been overthinking her content strategy (as we all sometimes do!) when she said something brilliant:

'I just want to help people the way I help them in my shop.'

And there it was - the most straightforward content strategy ever. Just help people.

So we started writing down all the ways she helps customers in person and turned each into content.

Suddenly, content creation wasn't overwhelming anymore. It was just sharing what she already does naturally.

There's a myth floating around that you need dozens of fancy tools to create great content.

Rubbish!

In my experience working with hundreds of small businesses across the UK, the most successful ones keep it beautifully simple.

Here's what you actually need:

A good writing tool (Google Docs is brilliant and free!)
A design tool (Canva works wonders)
A content calendar (Even Excel does the job perfectly)

That's it. Seriously.
