Words from Pouloumi: has taken me on a journey I never anticipated. Staggering and alive, the characters twist and turn the imagination. I hope they reveal slowly to you the wonders of the natural world and our relationships within it.
The tales of the forests have been my companion and will always remain so. Otherworldly and evermore valuable to us, in the confusion of these modern times, the voicing of the remarkable spirit of an amazing people.
In the end the work is a thunderous anthem of protest, tenderness and love for my land, language and sisterhood against diminishment and erasure of bodies of the people I met and loved of the heartland and mine.
As the soil of my sisters and other occupied lands, of flesh, water, deep time is being pushed to its dark edges, became a cautionary tale of what kind of future we might create, built from the choices we make nowβ¦ and how we might learn our own cures and βgo where there is loveβ.
