When I think of TikTok what comes to mind is an endless stream of short videos showing people dancing, singing, lip syncing, mashups and comic sketches.

It started out as a social platform for teenagers and young adults, but is slowly attracting a wider range of age groups.

It's not surprising that the platform is taking active steps to attract a wider audience. Like Instagram and Facebook, the potential to commercialise TikTok and make it another market place is enormous.

But however tempting it is to jump into this new marketplace, it comes with some controversy and fears not only that moral codes could be breached, but also personal and national security could be at risk, too. Countries like India and Pakistan have banned this social media platform and USA have threatened the same, but it's still thriving and more and more people are joining everyday.

Despite the controversy, TikTok is being labelled as the new Instagram and is almost virgin territory for online marketers to jump into. Those that have already taken the leap are reaping the rewards and some are making significant additional income as a direct result of their posts.

If you want in on this new trend, there is no better time than now to opt in.

Not as a pioneer, but following close behind and gaining an advantage as an early adopter.

There's a knack to marketing on TikTok (and Reels for that matter), but the strategy is easy to follow and it's well worth taking the time to get to know what to do.

If you work from home, chances are you already know that you’re really pulling “double duty”. You probably work on your business while doing the laundry, corralling the kids, or fixing dinner... and let’s not forget all the phone calls from family and friends expecting you to run errands or just "go out" for an afternoon of fun.

One of the hardest parts of running a home business is separating your work from your family and social life. Here are six proven ways to keep your home life running smoothly while keeping your business on track.

💯 ᴄʀᴇᴀᴛᴇ ᴀ ᴡᴏʀᴋ sᴄʜᴇᴅᴜʟᴇ ᴀɴᴅ sᴛɪᴄᴋ ᴡɪᴛʜ ɪᴛ. It may be tempting to answer personal calls during the day or take business calls after-hours, but doing this actually shows that you’re expendable – not dependable – and people will take for granted that you’ll “always be there” for any little things that come up. Even though family comes first, stay true to your business hours and resist the urge to chat with friends or pick up groceries during working hours.

💯 Our friends may consider “working from home” an invitation to chat during the day or just go out for coffee or shopping for an afternoon. ᴍᴀᴋᴇ ɪᴛ ᴄʟᴇᴀʀ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʙᴜsɪɴᴇss ʜᴏᴜʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴊᴜsᴛ ᴛʜᴀᴛ – ғᴏʀ ʙᴜsɪɴᴇss. Leave personal calls for after-hours, and you’ll find that your friends will gradually accept your schedule without feeling slighted.

💯 Just because you have to set up a work schedule, doesn’t mean that you have to keep the same hours as everyone else. One of the benefits of working for yourself is sᴇᴛᴛɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴏᴡɴ ʜᴏᴜʀs ᴛᴏ ғɪᴛ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴍᴏsᴛ ᴘʀᴏᴅᴜᴄᴛɪᴠᴇ ᴛɪᴍᴇs. Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, you’ll find that you’ll get much more done when you’re attuned to your body’s own natural rhythms. Some people work in the morning, take a break in the afternoon when the kids are home from school, and work again in the evening. Schedule your work time when you feel the most productive and you’ll find that things get done easier, faster and better than when you were dragging along during those same rigid work hours that everyone else has.

💯 If getting after-hours business calls or work day personal calls is a problem, it helps to ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴀ sᴇᴘᴀʀᴀᴛᴇ ʙᴜsɪɴᴇss ᴘʜᴏɴᴇ ʟɪɴᴇ, or at least an answering machine or voicemail, to take the incoming calls. This also gives your business a more professional appearance to clients than if you and your family make and receive calls from the same phone line.

💯 If at all possible, try to sᴇᴘᴀʀᴀᴛᴇ ʏᴏᴜʀ “ʜᴏᴍᴇ ᴏғғɪᴄᴇ” ғʀᴏᴍ ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴇsᴛ ᴏғ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʜᴏᴍᴇ. If you don’t have the luxury of a separate room, a room partition or screen can be just as helpful. This also serves as a visual cue to the family that you’re working and shouldn’t be bothered. Dress and act professionally while working. Some people find it helpful to dress in casual business attire during their working hours. This reinforces that just because you’re working from home doesn’t make you any less of a professional. Answer the phone with your name, or business name, and keep your children off the phone during business hours. Also, spend money investing in the tools you need to do your job right. A cell phone, fax machine or even a budget computer can help turn your home office into a true workspace.

... 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘷𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴.

I hear the term "Virtual Assistant" more and more in business. Did you know that you could possibly hire someone from another continent that works while you sleep and maybe for $8 - $12 Dollars. Most of the VA’s I work with have degrees and one an MBA in Business Admin. I pay her $15.00 per hour, what a bargain that is.

With the growth of virtual assistants has also been a change in what it means to be a virtual assistant. The leaders and founders of this particular entrepreneurial job have made distinctions between what it means to be a virtual assistant, and what it doesn’t mean. When you are explaining your business to others, you want to make sure to keep this standard.

Being a virtual assistant is becoming a distinct definition of a specific home owned business. It is expected that the standards will be upheld of a virtual assistant for all others who are working in this profession. This means that a virtual assistant is someone who provides a variety of services to businesses and individuals following the standard that has become formalized in the past decade.

The first angle that is taken towards approaching what a virtual assistant is includes the idea of being virtual. If you are not working out of your home, or remotely, then you are not considered a virtual assistant. Instead, it is considered to be a temporary job or a telecommuting job. One of the standards for being a virtual assistant is having the freedom to work where you want.

The second part to being a virtual assistant is the distinction that is made in the job description. Most virtual assistants will cringe at the idea of being called a secretary or freelance worker. Technically, a freelance worker is one who only does the job for extra income. At the same time, a secretary is one who doesn’t do the work continuously with only one client. A virtual assistant is provided in order to create a substantial and long term relationship with a business.

Here are 5 things you should consider in a Virtual Assistant:

👩‍💻🧑‍💻 ℙ𝕣𝕠𝕗𝕖𝕤𝕤𝕚𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕤𝕞 - Does the VA answer her or his emails, voicemails and other correspondence in a timely and professional manner? It is important if this person is to work for you has the right skills to not keep you or a deadline waiting. Make sure you give a covert task to her or him to pass that shows commitment to deadlines.

👩‍💻🧑‍💻 ℙ𝕣𝕠𝕛𝕖𝕔𝕥 𝕄𝕒𝕟𝕒𝕘𝕖𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕥 - Juggling tasks nowadays is vital. We now tap out feet in front of the microwave so things need to get done. If a person cannot work with a few projects on the go you might want to move on. I guarantee you will only find out that they have a project management problem when you lose "the big deal".

👩‍💻🧑‍💻 𝔸𝕧𝕒𝕚𝕝𝕒𝕓𝕚𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕪 - Many of these people work for several people at the same time. It is not uncommon for you as an employer to be in a funnel system for the VA. You slowly move down the funnel as they take on better contracts from new virtual employers. You also need to be lining up new VA's. Try to split your work between 2 or more VA's to combat this problem.

👩‍💻🧑‍💻 𝕋𝕖𝕤𝕥 - Give the VA a mini project before going ahead with a contract. I also give a minimum of 2 tasks that cost no more than $30 -$40 to complete. I need them done correctly and to my total satisfaction before I even consider this person. It is simple to hire one of the first few people to come along but please shortlist at least 10 and give the tasks to 2 of the 10 you shortlisted. Make sure these tasks are something you actually want done, don't waste any money.

👩‍💻🧑‍💻 𝔾𝕖𝕥 ℝ𝕖𝕗𝕖𝕣𝕖𝕟𝕔𝕖𝕤 - Can the VA give you a list of people whom you can contact who will tell you about working with her or him?

The main distinction that most virtual assistants will work towards creating is the idea of being in a relationship with a business, and making this their business. This goes beyond the expectations of any temporary work or telecommuting job. It also means that the services a virtual assistant can provide will go outside of job descriptions that are made in the office. By understanding the standards for being a virtual assistant, you can best approach this in your own relationships with businesses.

As humans, we experience life through language both communicating with others and with our own thought processes. This use of language directly affects our actions which in turn shape the outcomes.

Hurtful memories can stifle your development and growth. How do we break through this insidious mental conditioning? How do we grow and develop beyond hurtful episodes that bury themselves in our subconscious and influence our lives? How do we change and grow so that we can live our dreams?

The first step is to break the hold of these inhibiting influences from the past. Recognize them and then either get rid of them or turn them into a positive force that pushes you ahead rather than holds you back. Identify these inhibiting memories in your life so that you control them rather than allowing them to control you. Did someone hurt your feelings? Forgive them and forget it. Move on. Did someone punish you unfairly? It’s over. It’s done. Go on.

Here are a few of the most common emotions that burrow into the
subconscious and impede our growth as individuals:

𝟭. 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿: This is a natural response to a perceived attack or injury. It makes energy flow. But when allowed to simmer, it depletes energy that could be used to improve your life. If you hold your anger for more than a week, it is only hurting you. Make yourself let go. Envision yourself throwing it out. Ease your mind. Transform your anger into positive motivation. Don’t get mad, get motivated.

𝟮. 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲: The first cousin of anger. It also robs you of strength in the long run. The person who has injured you has probably gone on with life; so should you. Don’t let the injury hurt you further by inhibiting your growth. Lose it or use it. Instead of saying, “I’ll get them,” say, “I’ll show them. I’LL BE SOMEBODY!”

𝟯. 𝗦𝗮𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: This is more crippling than anger because it drains you from the start, sapping your will to go on. You probably will have to let this drain away slowly at its own pace. Time heals, but if the sadness seems to linger, consciously force it out. Seek out things that make you laugh and feel positive about life. Realize that feeling sad will not change anything. Seek peace of mind as your right.

𝟰. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Life is not always fair. It is unrealistic to feel any other way, and holding on to resentment is no way to fight back. Drop it and get back into the battle.

𝟱. 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁: Guilt is another emotion that stands between you and your dreams. All of us have done things we feel bad about and regret. Things we would do differently. Many of us carry that guilt around and it keeps us from moving forward. Don’t let people put you on a guilt trip. Say to yourself when someone is putting you on the defensive, “No matter what you do or say to me, I am still a worthwhile person.”

ᴀᴄᴄᴏᴍᴘʟɪsʜɪɴɢ ᴀɴʏ ɢᴏᴀʟ ɪs ᴊᴜsᴛ 5 ᴇᴀsʏ sᴛᴇᴘs ᴀᴡᴀʏ:

𝟭. 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 – Set your goals in reverse. Pick a date of completion and work backward. Ex. Set a goal for the end of the month and then set short term goals for each day through the end of the month. This way you are setting short and long term goals and each day as you accomplish your short term goals you move one step closer to accomplishing your long term goal. Don’t forget to include personal development goals and days off.

𝟮. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 – Take the goal you set for the end of the month and write that goal on the last day of the month. Then write down the short term goals for each day through the end of the month.

𝟑. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 – Don’t try to cram everything into one day. If you try to post to your blogs, post to the forums, post classified ads, participate in groups, submit articles and work on your Squidoo lenses, etc. all in one day you’ll burn yourself out. Instead, focus on one or two things every day and then cross it off. Mark an ‘X’ on the calendar on the days you complete the scheduled tasks.

𝟰. 𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁 – Aim for one to two hours per day. By limiting the time you are spending and focusing on one or two tasks every day, you’ll build momentum and increase your success rate.

𝟱. 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘁 – Stick with your schedule. Switching things up too often can get in the way of your success.

With a written plan, you’ll make accomplishing your goals easier. At the end of the month when you see more ‘X’s than empty squares, you’ll feel more accomplished. By implementing the 5 Easy Steps to Accomplishing Any Goal, you’ll find yourself making progress, building self-confidence and reaching and accomplishing your long term goals.
