Chapter V. Concept and Development

After spending a few days in beautiful Paris visiting , we wanted to share another of our refined templates. The Concept and Development template sits at the heart of our collection, and it’s the most substantial document we’ve ever made.

It’s structured around the design meetings you hold with your clients, taking you from early direction, research and references through to analysis, spatial planning, concept, materials, specifications, and final designs.

Visually, the inspiration for how it looks came from the places we always return to away from the screen. Books and catalogues, old printed matter and gallery journals. We’ll share more on how we collect inspiration soon because we could talk for hours and hours about this topic.

A fully written example runs throughout this template too. We created a fictional couple and built their brief in depth, down to how they live, what they value, and the decisions they would actually make. It means you can open the document and immediately see the tone, the level of detail, and how much to include when relating it to your own projects.

Chapter IV. Client Welcome

The next template we wanted to show you the inner workings of is our Client Welcome document. It is what you would send once a client has officially appointed your studio.

We built it the same way we build everything here — pairing clarity and structure with professional design. We were inspired by gallery catalogues, old publications, and pieces we return to often (like this beautiful Isamu Noguchi catalogue, one of Lauren’s most prized books from her collection).

This template brings the essentials into one place for a new client: a clear snapshot of the brief, what happens next, how you’ll communicate, and how payments, procurement and installation will be handled. A reference point your client can return to throughout.

A fully written example runs throughout this template too, so you can see how each page reads and the level of detail to include. We created a full client profile to base all of our templates on.
