One long table. Open fire. One menu full of whatever’s ready to be picked that morning.

Roots at opens its season on Friday 5 June, with guest chef Mel Brown of cooking among the growing beds.

The menu is built around what the garden is offering that week - early summer produce, fire cooking and simple, considered plates, all enjoyed outside.

Just thirty minutes from London - set amongst 700 acres of Hertfordshire countryside, the perfect summer kick-off.

✨ NEW CLIENT ✨

Meet the team redefining what wellness and recovery look like in Bedfordshire - we’re welcoming to the Cru family!

Founded in 2017 by the brilliant , Studio 281 has grown into one of the most loved boutique fitness brands across Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire - with thriving studios in Bedford, Milton Keynes, Olney and Ampthill.

The team has just launched the brand new Bedford Wellness Studio - a pioneering space pairing Red Light LED Therapy and Infrared Heat with signature Pilates and yoga to redefine performance, recovery and wellbeing.

Set alongside the flagship Bedford gym, it’s a dedicated space designed to help people move, breathe and reset, away from the pace and pressures of everyday life. Think: stronger bodies, calmer minds, and a natural evolution of everything Pilates already does so beautifully.

We’re excited to start telling this story. Watch this space.

Named “up and coming” for what feels like the 15th year in a row, Streatham might not be the obvious choice for a thriving scene, but it’s full of hidden gems if you know where to look. Our gal and resident shares a few favourites along Europe’s longest high street (true story).

DRINK
We’re bending the rules with two here.

- a classic boozer with new owners, a fresh refurb, an upcoming food menu and a revamped garden. Plenty to be excited about, and conveniently at the end of my road.

- wine bar, beer spot and bottle shop with a hint of cheese. I haven’t been yet, but boy am I excited to, Streatham has no business being this cool.

EAT
- I never manage to get a photo because the food disappears too quickly. Milk bread, coffee, charcuterie, full hampers, you won’t regret any of it.

SHOP
- a beautiful space showcasing local artists and designers. I do all my Christmas shopping here and somehow keep most of it for myself.

WALK
Streatham Common - not groundbreaking but a morning walk on the common is the perfect way to start the day with the dog. A gorgeous community feel as well.

We’re calling it. The Mint Julep will be the drink of summer 2026.

Bourbon, muddled sugar and fresh mint in a metal cup brimming with crushed ice - a winning concoction as the evenings get warmer and the mood calls for something more than a pint at the pub.

Enter: The House of Julep, ‘s homage to the forgotten classic, using homegrown mint picked from planters behind the bar. Make your way to Mercer Street and order yourself one asap so you can tell all your friends you were ahead of the trend!
