Workwear has always been something I've struggled with - not so much with the clothes themselves, but finding a balance between being office appropriate and also letting your personality shine through.⠀
⠀
Over the years I've bought so many items for work that I hated but I thought made me look more professional, but then I'd spend all day fidgeting and adjusting something that was uncomfortable, and feeling rubbish about what I was wearing.⠀
⠀
Now I'm freelance (and very few things are face to face!) I don't have quite the same struggles, but I do still have that "what shall I wear?" moment when I have a meeting with a potential client. I always dress smarter than I would for a zoom meeting, but I still make sure that whatever I wear is a reflection of me, rather than wearing a dress and heels (not very me) because I think I need to look a certain way.⠀
⠀
For anyone trying to navigate the tricky workwear world, I'd just advise you to pick something you feel great in, and then tailor it to the situation. Yes, your clothes might be more structured or formal than you'd wear around the house, but you don't need to wear a pencil skirt and stilettos to look professional. (Unless that's your jam, in which case, crack on!)⠀
⠀
Sorry - this ended up being a really long post, when what I was really here to say was - I bought this MINT VELVET jumper to wear to meetings and I like it. I like it so much I wore it out for dinner too.
