Most lead vendors send a qualified claimant to a page that says "thank you, someone will be in touch shortly."

If you're a PI firm in California and your lead vendor hasn't mentioned SB 37 yet - that's a problem.

SB 37 is a new California law that came into effect on January 1st 2026.

It regulates how personal injury legal services are marketed to the public.

And it doesn't just apply to law firms - it covers lead vendors, referral services, and any third party running ads or funnels targeting California claimants.

Here's what's now required:

A licensed attorney's name must appear on every ad and piece of marketing material.

The firm's name and logo must be visible on every creative.

A real office location has to be disclosed.

And any outcome-based language - "get a big check", "you could be owed thousands" - is fully banned.

The part most firms aren't aware of is where the liability actually sits.

If your lead vendor is running non-compliant ads on your behalf, your firm is the one facing the consequences - not them.

Penalties run from $5,000 to $100,000 per violation.
