Not the kind of Halloween content I wanted to be posting, but here we are… 🤡
I am posting this because…
• I am getting tired of people thinking in order to be a producer all you need is an idea - without possessing business acumen, common sense and respect for your workers.
• I want to urge my fellow freelancers to take care when signing on new clients. Moving forward I will be thoroughly vetting each new client in the hopes I can separate the wheat from the chaff.
Halloween Haunt Fest was an unmitigated disaster, and my heart goes out to everyone like myself who was impacted financially by the actions of the CEO and the board. The damage caused extends far beyond financial losses though; they have unintentionally caused emotional distress, panic, mistrust and tarnished our industry’s reputation.
This is scarily happening all too often, and businesses think they can make such poor decisions without getting called out on it. Things need to change, and that change starts by putting these horror stories out in the open.
Now, I sit and wait for a tiny fraction of the payment I’m owed and an apology.
