Congratulations to Ming on her 25th anniversary from CHK Design!

A celebrated designer of contemporary fine jewellery, Ming has been an inspiring creative partner over the years.

One of our favourite remarks from her comes from an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. When asked about the most rewarding aspect of her work, Ming answered: it is seeing the joy and delight her creations bring and knowing she has crafted something to be treasured.

CHK designed the hand-crafted logotype inspired by the beauty of Renaissance stone inscriptions in Florence.

CHK Design sought to capture the essence of contemporary composer Anna Bauer by visually reimagining her unique musical style. Her compositions seamlessly blend minimal electronic elements with acoustic textures, resulting in immersive, cinematic soundscapes. The accompanying images by Eberhard Grossgasteiger are intentionally ambiguous and abstract, inviting open interpretation and reflecting the layered complexity of her sonic worlds.

The logo consists exclusively of the letters “A” and “B,” alongside a colon. The colon symbolizes repetition in musical notation, marking the start or end of sections to be repeated and underscores the cyclic nature of Bauer’s work.

DeutschTec branding – a blend of form and function

We’d like to share our branding work for engineering company Deutschtec. The new logo is inspired by the intricate mechanics of a revolving door — a symbol of precision, reliability, and expert craftsmanship.

To bring the brand to life, we partnered with architectural photographer Etienne Clément, capturing visuals that reflect the same sleek, precise aesthetic.

The website mirrors this architectural elegance, perfectly showcasing Deutschtec’s cutting-edge engineering spirit.

Our design marks the 10th anniversary of BBA Gallery and the BBA Prizes art fair.

Modular components allow the brand to morph seamlessly between different scales. The logo is designed using a simple modular grid, which also serves as the foundation for all design templates – including the website (see links below), social media (shown here), and campaign materials for the Berlin Underground. The Sluice Spring/Summer 2025 issue uses the theme of “world-building” to explore our relationship with the world and the stories we tell ourselves about our place within it. This theme is reflected in the design through the use of Buckminster Fuller’s Dymaxion map projection as both a visual and conceptual reference point.

Fuller’s map is a unique world map projection that unfolds the globe onto the surface of an icosahedron, which can be flattened to two dimensions. Unlike traditional maps, it minimizes distortion of landmasses and presents the world as one connected landmass rather than divided by oceans, emphasising global interconnectedness and a holistic view of the Earth.

SLUICE magazine has been honoured with a Certificate of Excellence in the print category at the 2024 .awards (International Society of Typographic Designers).

A massive thanks to Colophon Foundry for providing us with their superb collection of fonts.
