The Pulse team paid a visit to an incredible exhibition at the Royal Academy, Kerry James Marshall’s The Histories.

Alabama-born and Chicago-based artist Kerry James Marshall is renowned for his profound engagement with African American history and representation. His work draws from the legacies of the civil rights movement, art history, and popular culture to construct new visions of Black life.

Celebrating one of the most important artists of our time, the exhibition traces the artists visionary reimagining of Black identity and history in art. We were impressed by how the artist redefines the language of representation itself. What it means to see and be seen – reclaiming visibility as both “a right and a power”.

In his own words, Kerry James Marshall is trying to establish a “phenomenal presence that is unequivocally black and beautiful.”

The exhibition is running until 18 January 2026 at the Royal Academy. If you want to witness art that will stay with you, weeks later, we highly recommend a visit!

Recently, the Pulse team got together to organise a charity lunch. A few colleagues cooked up an incredible spread for the office, and everyone chipped in to support a cause: the Together for Palestine initiative by Love.

Every penny raised goes straight to Palestinian-led organisations working on the frontlines of the humanitarian crisis, including the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) and the Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS).

Children and families in Gaza are continuing to face unfathomable hardship. Despite the devastation, Palestinian humanitarian organisations continue to put themselves at risk every day to deliver food, medical care, clean water, education and hope. Through the Together for Palestine Fund, support is reaching those who need it most.

A big thanks to our team members for coming together and making this lunch possible – showing us how we can turn a simple activity into an act of solidarity.

The UK B Corp movement is officially 10 years old!🎉
Ten years ago, the first B Corps were certified in the UK. A decade later, this powerful and diverse community of over 2,600 businesses is thriving through placing purpose and profit hand in hand.
We’re proud to have been part of this movement for six of those ten years. Becoming a B Corp helped us formalise something that’s always been at our core — a belief that business has the power and responsibility to shape a better future. Six years on, it continues to push us to act with courage, think long-term, and build a business that grows by doing good.

The social initiative MovingBeyond (MB), launched in 2021 by Pulse Founder Simon Milton and Jamie Anley, co-led with Maria O’Connor, builds on this foundation. 🪜

MB was set up to help the UK be more ambitious around Net Zero and ignite radical collaboration. The initiative brings together business, government, investors and civic society in a safe space, where people can speak openly about challenges and build new connections.

To date, MB has hosted four inspiring events across Scotland, Wales, Teesside and Newham, with the fifth event set to take place in London this October.

MB demonstrates our belief in a sustainable and fairer world and is a reminder of our collective power. ✊

We're looking forward to joining our neighbours to celebrate the people powering the at the Fair Shot x Amanda Akokhia Studios exhibition, 'Fair Shot: Through the Lens' 📸

The Inclusion Revolution is about changing the way people view learning disabilities and the barriers that we need to break down as a society.

The evening will bring together the talents of and stories from the wonderful learners, graduates and staff at Fair Shot. And our consultant Emily will be hosting a panel discussion with the photographer, Fair Shot CEO and a recent graduate to explore the power of representation and breaking down barriers.

Last week, the Pulse team spent a lovely few days together in the New Forest, Hampshire. We had a brilliant time learning to sail, hiking, bonding and enjoying nice meals at The Pig, Brockenhurst. It was great to spend some time outside of the office, connecting with each other and nature, and the experience is sure to fuel us for the winter ahead. We can’t thank the team at Solent Events enough for a great sailing experience, and huge thanks to our colleagues for always being up for a challenge and getting stuck in!

We recently joined fellow at the festival in Oxford and attended dozens of events taking place in lecture halls, pubs, the theatre and even a court room ⚖️.

With 1,300 attendees, it was the largest gathering of B Corps ever.

We’ve come away with lots of food for thought and we’re looking forward to sharing some of our reflections in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, swipe left for our immediate reactions 👉
