Critical Shifts That Define Real Innovation (Stop Chasing Tech) 💡
If your company has an innovation center, it might be a bad signal. Innovation isn't a department or a fancy tech stack. It's a fundamental shift in how we approach problems.
Based on insights from industry experts, here are the five critical shifts to drive transformation, not just innovation:

1. Prioritize Curiosity Over Content 🤔
We are drowning in content but starving for curiosity. The real bottleneck to innovation is human: people aren't curious anymore. In the AI age, asking the right questions is power. Companies that win are the ones with people curious enough to ask questions nobody else is asking.

2. Design for Emotion, Not Information ❤️
Innovation isn't about loading people with frameworks or PowerPoint slides. It’s about designing experiences that spark curiosity, build mastery, and create genuine transformation. For example, turning recruiters into a "Recruiter Intelligence Agency" changed their self-perception from order-takers to strategic partners.

3. Focus on "Unknown Unknowns" 🗺️
You can train people on specific skills (social media, data analysis). But the real value comes from exposing them to things they didn't even know existed. Create spaces for discovery instead of just filling known gaps.

4. Create Reflection Spaces, Not Consumption Centers 🧘
We are in an age of intellectual overconsumption. Companies need to stop adding more content and start creating spaces for reflection. Bring the right people together, ask the right questions, and let the magic happen through connection.

5. Work Smarter with Simple Model Shifts ⚙️
Innovation doesn't have to be sophisticated or a billion-dollar moonshot. Simple model shifts—like a hairdresser switching to a membership model or a coffee shop offering subscriptions—create massive value. Working smarter beats working harder every single time.

What's your take? Which of these shifts is the most difficult for your company to implement?

04/12/2025

You don't need a moonshot idea. Some of the most valuable innovations are simple model shifts.

Think: a hairdresser switching to a membership model, or a coffee shop offering subscriptions. These are simple shifts that create massive value.

Innovation is about understanding human psychology and designing experiences that drive real change, not just technology. It’s about putting humans first and using technology to enhance, not replace, what makes us human.

In a world where AI is doing the thinking, the real power lies with people who ask good questions and think critically. Curiosity is key.

We learned 8 lessons from G. Beatriz de la Cierva on what innovation really means:
You might need places to exercise your brain in the future.

Stop trying to build more content; give people time and space to think and find new chances.

Hire curious people, not just the most skilled.

Innovation is about understanding what makes people tick.

In the AI age, the real power isn't in having the most data, but in asking the right questions.

The biggest bottleneck to innovation isn't technical; it's human. We're drowning in content but starving for curiosity.

Hire Smart: Someone with fire in their eyes (curiosity) will outperform someone with the perfect resume every time.

Train Smart: Exposure to "unknown unknowns" is what creates massive value - not just training on known gaps.

We're discussing how to strategically hire for curiosity and design for discovery this week. Don't miss out!

AI in EdTech: Stop Blocking, Start Customizing! The most underutilized use of AI in education is creating customized content—adjusting reading levels, translating, and connecting to student interests. Let's stop blocking the tech and start training teachers to leverage this power for all learners, especially the neurodivergent. We're doing a disservice by not fully utilizing the tech that's already here.

We'd love to hear from our EdTech community, what are your views on this?

The EdTech Adoption Crisis: Why Your Cool Tools Gather Dust! 🚨

Are your innovative classroom tools being used... or are they just sitting on a shelf? 🤔

We've all seen it: brilliant EdTech gets purchased, but teachers struggle to actually use it effectively in their classrooms. Founder of InTECHgrated, Lindy Hockenbary, breaks down the key ways EdTech companies can finally make their products "stick".

It's not about the "shiny features"—it's about what sticks and helps in real classrooms.

Here are 3 critical solutions we discuss:

Training Isn't Extra, It's Essential: Training should always come with your product so every teacher gets support.

Build a Teacher Team: Bring teachers together in groups so they can share tips and help each other get better at using your tool.

Let AI Help Every Student: Use AI to make lessons fit each student, changing a reading level or explaining things in a fun way.
