An estimated 20,000 new people joined golf clubs in England this year largely due to the COVID pandemic but what are clubs doing to retain these members?
What are they doing differently to attract their friends?
Or will they rest on their laurels after this unexpected boost?
COVID has turned the world upside down but for the golf business has led to increased demand due to furloughed workers or inability to do other sports.
But will many golf clubs to adapt, evolve and invest?
Or will it be a false dawn for clubs stuck in their ways and failing?
Will more clubs realise having gone through the COVID protocols that changing the clubhouse isn't impossible?
Could they go from ham, egg and chips only to a food and social experience that attracts different types of people, including non-golfers?
Could golf clubs tell their individual stories to both their members, community and wider world in a different way to a monthly committee newsletter?
