Almuth Tebbenhoff – The Book

Almuth Tebbenhoff is a sculptor and she is good at trying. Almuth left her family farm in rural Germany for the freedom of London with the aim of becoming an artist. From making pots she began creating ceramic sculptures. When her father left her an old Volvo full of his beloved welding equipment, she signed up for a metal fabrication course and started welding wall-hung sculptures from steel angle sections. During a three-month residency with Studio Sem in Pietrasanta Almuth learned the art of traditional marble carving. It’s the simple fact of working with her hands, the physical labour of art, that draws her restless spirit to sculpture.

Almuth Tebbenhoff – the book – is a journey through the artist's mind. It traces the process by which objects of beauty can emerge from a messy afternoon pushing and pummeling clay, noisy sessions cutting and welding steel or nursing your hurting hands after following in Michelangelo's footsteps.

Brand Identity for Nika contemporanea danza

In Japanese, Nika (にかっ) is the onomatopoeic sound of a smile — that little “Nika” that emerges when something makes us feel good.

The Florentine contemporary dance company Nika embraces the smile as a universal gesture of connection and makes it its flag. Being part of Nika means taking part in something that makes you feel better, becoming part of a living space for encounter, expression, and sharing, capable of generating authentic emotions both for those who dance and for those who watch.

The company works in the choreographic and research field together with the activities of training. Its scope is bringing the public closer to dance and theatre, with a focus, in the recent years, on children and young people.

The new identity plays with bright colours and bold fonts just as the company plays with the canonical dance language to create something, new, impactful, inviting the youngest to fall in love with dance and theatre.

Tadao Ando | Light and Space | Richard Pare

Richard Pare has been photographing the buildings and projects of Japanese architect Tadao Ando for 40 years. Pare's images quietly distill the essence of Ando's buildings rather than producing literal portraits.

In his foreword to "The Colours of light" – the first book of Tadao Ando's and Richard Pare's collaboration published by Phaidon in 1996 – Ando writes that Pare "discovers scenes in a building which even the architect has not noticed." Art historian Karl Schawelka concurs: "There are buildings that I believed I knew [from visits] until I saw the photographs of Richard Pare."

Almost thirty years after the publication of "The Colours of Light", architect Tadao Ando, photographer Richard Pare and designer Thomas Manss revived their earlier collaboration to create "Light and Space". Published again by Phaidon, the book continues where "The Colours of Light" left off – with Richard Pare's unique record of Tadao Ando's architectural thinking from their first meeting in 1985 to the present.
