So proud of this awesome group of Just Like Us ambassadors for delivering an amazing talk to a group of sixth formers at Whitgift School! It was great that we could take the time to go into detail with a long workshop session, really giving us time to answer loads of questions and talk to the kids about what it was like for us growing up LGBT+. Featuring a bonus picture of us with the school flamingos... yes, flamingos! A very cool place to visit 🌈

✨ My thesis ebook has had such an amazing response so far! ✨

It blows my mind that something I wrote has been read in the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and across the US in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Maryland, Washington, Kansas, New Mexico, Indiana, Texas, and California.

Some lovely reviews I have recieved:

“I love the great number of references you used and which you knitted together into a coherent argument. I wish Moffat and Gatiss would read it.”

“I wish I could find words to tell you just how much I loved it.”

“Thank you so much for giving this to the community, I think it really help to have official, academic works that focuses on queerbait. It is less likely to be laugh at. I must say that it was really clear and understandable even for a non primary English speaker like me. A part of this Fandom that I really really love is all the theories and meta and analysis because it put into words and clear proofs things I vaguely feel (like the love between John and Sherlock). And you gave a voice to my uneasiness post season 4 and a legitimacy to claim that it was in fact queerbait and that we were not delusional for seeing all these clues. Thank you so much for your work!! People like you are the reason why I still feel confident in my reading of Sherlock.”

“I think that everyone in the Sherlock fandom (at least) should read it.”

A photo from my presentation in the CTS Word Matters symposium. Students from the design school with top grades for their thesis were invited to present their research findings. Here I discuss Ng’s text-paratext-queer contextuality queerbaiting matrix, and how this combined with fandom precedent can demonstrate how queerbaiting has taken place in the BBC’s Sherlock.
