The London Indian Film Festival returns for its 17th edition this July, bringing a dynamic programme of South Asian cinema, special events and industry conversations across London, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield and Bradford

This year’s line-up includes an In Conversation with actor Aamir Khan to celebrate 25 years of Lagaan, a special reunion of the iconic Goodness Gracious Me cast, Europe’s first Indian AI & Film showcase, and an outstanding selection of UK premieres from across South Asia

Opening the festival is the European premiere of 52 Blue, directed by Ali El Arabi and starring Adil Hussain and Neha Dhupia, with screenings and Q&As taking place across multiple cities

Football for Peace hosted its second Water Gala, Rehydrate the Earth, at CÉ LA VI, bringing together leaders, innovators, philanthropists and supporters for an evening focused on sustainability, global water challenges and youth empowerment

The event showcased the impact of Football for Peace’s UK and India Water Programmes, highlighting initiatives including rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, water literacy and youth-led environmental leadership. The gala also featured keynote addresses, impact showcases and fundraising activities supporting the continued expansion of these programmes

Hosted by Braydon Bent, the evening included a live performance by H Dhami and a special DJ set from Denise Van Outen, uniting guests around a shared commitment to creating sustainable change through collaboration, education and community-led action

The Opening and Closing ceremonies of the UK Asian Film Festival were a leading celebration of cinema and storytelling in the UK

The Opening Film was the UK Premiere of ‘Ghost School’ (Pakistan, 2025; Dir: Seemab Gul), screening at London’s BFI Southbank. This magical-realist drama follows 10-year-old Rabia as she uncovers the mystery behind her village school’s sudden closure, revealing layers of corruption, superstition, and the struggle for education. The screening was followed by a Q&A with director Seemab Gul

The closing film presented the UK Premiere of ‘Shadowbox’ (India, 2025; Dir: Tanushree Das, Saumyananda Sahi), at BFI Southbank, followed by a Q&A with lead actor Tillotama Shome

The film festival continues to serve as a vital platform for elevating diverse voices, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and showcasing exceptional creative talent from across the global Asian diaspora
