๐จ Hot take incoming! ๐จ
"The best ads donโt look like adsโunless theyโre bad ads."
๐ก Let that sink in for a moment.
As an agency, weโve learnt this truth the hard way (and occasionally, the expensive way). A brilliant ad doesnโt shout โLOOK AT ME.โ Instead, it casually leans in and says, โHey, I get you.โ
Itโs the TikTok that blends seamlessly into your feed.
The Instagram Reel you watch twice because itโs funny and oddly relatable.
The Twitter thread youโre halfway through agreeing with before you realise itโs sponsored.
โจ The magic lies in making your audience feel something before they notice theyโre being marketed to. โจ
Bad ads, though? Oh, theyโre glaringly obvious.
Over-the-top CTAs. Cringe-inducing copy. Graphics so flashy they could double as a Blackpool illuminations display. ๐จ
If itโs giving "mid-90s infomercial vibes," itโs probably not hitting the mark anymore.
So, hereโs the million-pound question:
How do you create ads that donโt feel like ads?
Hereโs what we tell our clients:
1๏ธโฃ Know your audience better than they know themselves. If your ad doesnโt solve a real problemโor spark a real emotionโitโs just noise.
2๏ธโฃ Meet them where they are. Scroll through their platforms. Observe what theyโre engaging with. Your ad should feel like it belongs in that world.
3๏ธโฃ Be human. People donโt want to connect with a brandโthey want to connect with people. Write like youโre chatting with a mate, not pitching a Dragon.
At the end of the day, ads should add value, not just take up space. ๐
