It’s not about not having time, it’s about how you prioritise it!

Running a business with a small child means I HAVE to ensure my time is well spent. But where does that leave MY interests. I love reading and it is so easy to say I don’t have the time but I made myself a promise.

CONSISTENCY: By committing to just 10 pages it felt like a manageable amount to ‘fit’ into my day. In reality I found myself reading more especially when I got into the stories.

I found the time by keeping a book on me and every time I would usually doom scroll on my phone I picked up my book instead.

I am a very fast reader (I had to be for my Literature degree) so I can’t promise you’ll read four books in February, but switching one toxic habit for a more fulfilling one is definitely better for your mental health 💕

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and mental health is a complex, underfunded and often overlooked issue.

This year’s theme is community and the importance of safe spaces. At a time when online spaces can feel awash with hate and negativity, it’s important to remember to take breaks if you feel like your mental health is being compromised.

Finding the joy in the smallest of acts and moments really helps me with overwhelm and keeping in the present.

Here are a few of my favourite things to spark joy…

1. This desk, a new notebook and a glorious view.
2. Flowers, in all forms (bring on the Chelsea coverage next week.)
3. Stopping off for coffee after the nursery run. IYKYK
4. The allotment, hard work but so rewarding
5. The sea, or any body of water brings instant calm. I could not be land locked!
6. Carbs - pasta, bread and potatoes are the holy trinity
7. My darling heart, red curls and cuddles.
8. Mac Miller - This song and his body of work are bittersweet but I listen to him the most.

Remember to look for the joy 💕
