Animation is a powerful tool for clearly explaining processes and sharing best practices with diverse audiences.

This example we created for IOM UK plays a crucial role in building trust and respecting cultural differences by thoughtfully reflecting details such as clothing, skin tone, and mannerisms. We achieved this through close collaboration with Abir Soleiman and her team, which is where working with a creative outshines any AI tool.

This example is from a series of three animated videos for supervisors of seasonal workers in the UK to enhance their knowledge and skills in providing a safe, supportive, and fair environment that promotes wellbeing and performance.

Modern life can sometimes feel overwhelming, noisy and claustrophobic. Getting out into quieter, wild spaces and connecting with nature helps our wellbeing.

Refining our previous version of this animation, ‘Connect with nature’, we wanted to create engaging, relatable content specifically aimed at middle-aged men, highlighting how many often have a lot going through their heads without an obvious outlet.

Walking in green spaces like London Wildlife Trust's Woodberry Wetlands and becoming more aware of nature can help to put things into perspective and help us unwind.

By building on an existing animation, we were also able to quickly update and refine the content, making it easier to adapt messaging, test new ideas, target a specific audience and keep the story relevant without starting from scratch.

Is SEO-friendly content enough in an AI-driven search world?

As generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity increasingly answer search queries directly, we need to think beyond traditional SEO and consider Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO).

In our latest article, we look at how animated content can play a key role in GEO, helping AI systems better understand, trust, and recommend your content in search results.

Read the article to learn how to optimise animation for GEO and ensure your content is discoverable.

Over the years we’ve had the privilege of working on some remarkable projects that show just how powerful animation can be in helping charitable organisations communicate complex ideas clearly and meaningfully.

One project we're proud to share is our recent collaboration with Fauna & Flora, an international wildlife conservation charity working across nearly 50 countries. They approached us with a challenge many global organisations will recognise: how do you explain something as technical and jargon-heavy as the carbon market to local and Indigenous communities who are directly affected by it?

This is a great example we've shared with CharityComms as part of their storytelling series. We explore how storytelling and animation can bridge the gap between complexity and clarity.

If you’re interested in how animation can support education, engagement, and impact, particularly when dealing with technical or sensitive subjects, I hope you’ll find this interesting.

Papers, presentations and conferences are essential for sharing research findings, but they can struggle to reach and engage public audiences.

Animation can be a cost-effective, accessible way to bring research to life.
✅ Simplifies complex concepts – transforms dense data and theory into clear, visual stories.
✅ Boosts engagement – keeps audiences’ attention and helps messages resonate.
✅ Extends reach – shareable across websites, social media, and international platforms.
✅ Improves retention – visuals and storytelling make information easier to remember.
✅ Supports funding and REF impact – demonstrates reach, accessibility, and engagement.

As academia evolves in the digital age, animation is no longer just a creative extra — it’s a strategic tool for sharing impact, accessibility, and understanding.

We've collaborated with Avivah Wittenberg-Cox, a thought leader on gender and generational balance, and her company 20-First, to create a series of three engaging animations:
✔️Wake Up to the New Demographics.
✔️5 Steps to Longevity Leadership.
✔️Getting Good at Transitions.

Designed to spark conversation and inspire reflection, these short, snappy, and thought-provoking animations were created to serve as powerful talking points at conferences and events — and to capture attention online.

The animations are designed to drive engagement, encourage discussion, and help audiences connect with Avivah’s insights in a quick, accessible, and visually striking way.

Using animation for social change

Animation has the power to simplify complex issues, evoke empathy, and inspire action — all while connecting with audiences on a deeper emotional level.

From tackling climate change and conservation to exploring equality, social justice, and mental health, animation helps turn challenging topics into accessible, meaningful stories that create impact.

In our latest blog, we explore how animation can:
- Simplify complex subjects
- Promote collaboration and inclusion
- Evoke empathy and understanding
- Inspire action and challenge stereotypes

Read about real examples of how we've used animation to inform, influence, and drive positive change — including some of our recent projects working with Fauna & Flora and Newcastle University.

Today is World Mental Health Day.

We've worked with Mental Health Support Liverpool's Children and Young People for over ten years, creating and developing digital content that raises awareness and educates children, young people, parents, carers and those who work with families.

Being mentally healthy isn't just about not feeling down; it's about having positive relationships with those around you and having resilience to bounce forward from tough times.

Our latest animation explains the mental health support available for children and young people when life's problems are too much for family and friends to help with.

Thinking about making an explainer animation?

You need to start by writing a great script. It'll be the foundation of your animation because it shapes the story, message, and flow—ensuring your visuals connect with the audience and leave a lasting impact.

We've put together a guide on how to write a short-form explainer animation script.

When you need support for your mental health, it can be tricky to know where to go and who to speak to.

In Liverpool, support for children and young people is available through a collaboration of NHS and voluntary sector partners.

We developed this animation to help young people aged 16-25 understand what mental health support is available and how to access it.

It's being shared in 6th form colleges and universities throughout the city, and forms part of the Mental Health Support Liverpool's Children and Young People's wider digital communications strategy.
