🔥 Challengers challenge.
It’s not about rivals — it’s about confronting the status quo that’s holding you back.

⚡️ Challengers break with expectations.
They turn internal habits and category norms into opportunities to stand out.

🪢 Challengers do more with less.
Constraints fuel bold thinking and creative action.

🐟 Challengers hunt as a pack.
Strategy only works when everyone is aligned and empowered to act.

It starts with a mindset shift.

Thank you to everyone who joined us earlier this week at Cannes for The Eye-Watering Cost of Dull Media.

It was a pleasure (and a provocation) to share the latest findings from The Extraordinary Cost of Dull with such a packed room — exploring just how much attention (and money) we’re losing when even great creative is placed in low-attention formats.

A huge thank you to Dr Karen Nelson-Field for her brilliant insights, sharp thinking, and the incredible depth of research that powered this work. Pulling together data across 60 formats and 12 countries is no small feat, and the impact was felt.

And to those who survived their first whiff of our newest scent: Ennui, the scent of burning money, we salute you.

If you missed the session, stay tuned, more to come soon.

The status quo doesn’t cut it with influencer marketing.

And long-gone are the days of the ‘pay to play’ strategy.
..but is your company brave enough to become ‘friends with benefits’?

Our latest piece from research & insight lead Sarah Tilley explores how authenticity, shared values, and mutual risk-taking are transforming the way Challengers and influencers work together.

.mobile has had to make an important shift recently — from focusing on a single, niche demographic — to focusing on their consumers’ mindset.

As we’ve seen in much of the work we do with other Challenget brands, it’s this refocus on what a consumer thinks and feels that allows Challengets to take risks when reaching out to new groups of people.

We chatted with Group Brand Director David Clyde to explore exactly how they’ve navigated it and grown their audience in the process.

Some kind words from a recent Can-If workshop with 💛

Hosted by Ben Cooper and Tara Henderson, the Kellanova HR team embraced their Challenger Mindset to continue fostering a culture of possibility, encouraging creative problem-solving and flexibility whilst navigating their constraints in a rapidly changing business landscape.

We’re so excited to announce that our own Liston Pitman, strategy director at eatbigfish has been included in WARC’s The Future of Strategy 2024 Report!

Even as technology rapidly advances and AI becomes a necessary and useful part of the marketing toolkit, when it comes to strategy, it’s still all about the people.

Drawing on key eatbigfish principles, Liston shares our thinking on the importance of leaning into the social aspect of strategy in his piece “AI’s an anti-social strategist. You can’t afford to be.”

Another eatbigfish summer party for the history books…

Highlights of the week included the arrival of our North American team, an incredibly competitive game of croquet, a few cold dips in the sea, dining under the stars and the crowning of our Fish of the Season - Sarah Tilley.

A tremendous thank you to the staff at for the exceptional hospitality. We couldn’t have asked for a better setting to celebrate having our team altogether.
