We want to improve our presence online and develop online sales, so ran a beauty parade for rebuilding our website and included Virtual Abode who we found through a local friend.
Virtual Abode were the only internet specialists who advised us to stick with our current platform and upgrade there rather than accept the larger business of rebuilding onto their preferred platform; whilst still offering their expertise in the way of consulting and targeted packages of work on the most technical areas to help us achieve the best outcomes. They offered a full website build too which was competitively priced, but their advice demonstrated high levels of integrity and a willingness to adapt and support their customer, which aligns with us well so we started to work with them.
Our original website was built on Blogger and used Shopify plugins to facilitate the ecommerce. We moved to a full Shopify website using off-the-shelf templates, our basic technical know how bringing much of the new website into being, and then with all the really important bits done by Virtual Abode; for example, migrating data and URLs, and then the actual website redirection itself which frankly I didn’t want to touch but of course this is the type of very technical thing that Virtual Abode are experts at. We also used Virtual Abode for consulting on the website structure too, and that helped us apply the templates in way that helped us score well on Google’s technical measures that we have learned are so important if you are going to place your business on the internet. This was an iterative process, with weekly meetings initially and then becoming less frequent once the new site hits a level of maturity.
The support continues now as we develop our online business and we have found Virtual Abode able to assist in a really wide range of technical areas, for example, as we bring on new products and product lines, and helping our newsletters reach more of the people that subscribed to them.
The end result is website our customers now love, and find easy to use. It’s cost us less than a full rebuild from scratch and we still have excellent support and advice available to us as we develop our online presence.
