On a recent trip to southern Mexico I learnt that a small Myan community "Chamulas" worship Coca-Cola.

Their healers "shamans" use animals, mostly chickens, which they rub all over the body of a sick person wanting to be cured and then encourage the person to drink Coca-Cola.

The purpose of this ritual is to drive the evil spirits out of the sick person's body. After drinking copious amounts of Coke the sick person naturally starts burping.

They believe this phenomena is the devil and sins being released from the body and Coca-Cola has natural healing properties.

I took this photo in a local monastery. It shows Coca-Cola is readily available everywhere in the Myan community.
