The Israel Defense Forces announced Monday afternoon that the identity of the last hostage, Ran Gvili, has been confirmed. With this development, all hostages have now been returned from the Gaza Strip, and for the first time since 2014, there are no longer any Israeli hostages there.

According to the IDF, Gvili was brought back to Israel 843 days after being kidnapped in the October 7 massacre, and his identity was confirmed at the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the moment, saying, “Ran, hero of Israel — he went in first and came out last. This is a great achievement.”

Sergeant First Class Ran Gvili, 24, from the community of Meitar, was killed in battle at Kibbutz Alumim and kidnapped by Hamas terrorists to the Gaza Strip.

Gvili served as a combat fighter in the Negev Border Police in the Southern District. On October 7, despite being injured with a broken shoulder from a motorcycle accident and scheduled for surgery, he went into combat. He succeeded in saving the lives of dozens of revelers at the Re’im music festival before being killed and abducted.

We are not forgetting Ran Gvili, the last deceased captive held in Gaza.

Last days, London has been covered with Ran’s stickers, and a vigil was held next to the UK Parliament, calling for his release.

Ran, a 24-year-old Israeli police officer also known as Rani, was killed on October 7 2023 while fighting Hamas gunmen in Kibbutz Alumim, and his body was subsequently taken to as a .

Guy Gilboa Dalal, who was freed last month in the latest hostage deal after being held in for two years, said in an interview with that he was sexually assaulted during his captivity.

Gilboa-Dalal described an incident in which a H@mas operative assaulted him after allowing him to shower.

“When I finish the shower, he drags me from there — from the shower. He doesn’t let me wear my clothes. He takes me back to their room, and then he throws me on one of their armchairs. He starts touching me all over my body,” he recalls. “I froze. I told him, ‘You’re joking, right? This is forbidden in Islam.’ He pointed a gun at my neck and told me that if I told someone, he would kill me.”

Gilboa-Dalal is believed to be the second male former hostage to publicly disclose sexual assault during captivity. Earlier this month, hostage survivor Rom Braslavski also revealed that he was sexually assaulted during the 738 days he was held in Gaza.

“No one went through what I went through. They stripped me of all my clothes — underwear, everything. They tied me up from my... while I was completely naked. I was torn apart, dying, with no food,” said the former hostage in a televised interview.

“It was sexual violence — and its main purpose was to humiliate me”, he said.

The body of Idan Shtivi, a 28-year-old hostage abducted from the music festival on October 7, 2023, was recovered in central Gaza.

Shtivi had attended the festival to photograph friends performing and leading workshops. When the attacks began, Shtivi helped two people escape before he was kidnapped.

Idan’s partner, Stav, describes him as a person with a quiet and profound presence who always cared about what’s happening around him: his friends, family, animals, and the environment. He was full of hope for a better and more beautiful world.

The October 7 massacre is the deadliest terrorist attack per capita in modern history. As the former US President Joe Biden noted in its aftermath, it would be as if 40,000 to 50,000 Americans had been murdered on 9/11.

Rom Braslavski’s mother, Tami, spoke with ynet 5 days after Islamic Jihad released Rom’s footage where he appears emaciated and starving. “My son is on the verge of death, and no one knows where he is”.

“Since 7th October until the video, I didn’t break down. Seeing my child like this was too much,” she said painfully, turning to her son: “Don’t leave me. Keep going a little longer. Stay alive.”

Tami spoke about the two videos of her son she received since his abduction. The first of them was during Passover, in which he is heard speaking, angry, shouting, demanding. Full of strength and hope. “He spoke from the bottom of his heart. He believed that someone would see this video and get him out of there,” she said. But the second video is completely different: “I saw a person there who was turned off. Desperate. Someone who feels like he was given up on, that he’s alone.”

She has difficulty containing the image: “He’s lying on a carpet, without glasses, barely seeing. It’s hard for him to breathe, stand, eat. And I just want to hug him, tell him: ‘Rom, everything’s fine. We’ll find a solution. But how can you ask him to hold on a little longer, when he’s there and I’m here, just as helpless as he is?”

Rom was at the Festival during the massacre. Tami knows he saw the with his own eyes. “He walked among the rubble, among the murdered. He saw people being burned, r***d, kidnapped. And yet, when he had the opportunity to escape, he didn’t. He saved a girl from a junkyard, waited with her for rescue, and then returned. Returned to the inferno. Without blinking.”

Tami pauses, takes a breath, and continues: “This child laid down his life for others. And today he feels that no one is laying down their life for him.” Her life has become an exhausting and breathless journey. Interviews, demonstrations, conversations, signs, another speech, another appeal. And the situation only gets worse. “I do everything, talk to everyone. But my hands are tied. And I feel that he is disappointed in me.”
