SWEATY GYMS AND CLIENTS FROM HELL…

As a pro-fitness trainer, Martin thought he had “cracked the code”.

Then reality hit…

You see - Martin is a great trainer, all his clients rave about him.

Not only that, he is also a great “people person” who knows how to get them to respond; touch their hot buttons. He’s able to shift them into gear and get them in the best shape of their lives.

He looks the part too - Martin resembles a mild mannered, spartan warrior.

Just like any other pro-fitness trainer, Martin desired his own space so he could do his own “thing” and take his success to a whole new level.

After an extensive search - he found this beautiful little boutique space just on the outskirts of London.

Easy access for his current clients and quite the potential for some “foot traffic”.

After putting in a lot of work - and a hefty monetary investment - Martin opened shop.

Sadly - it wasn’t “smooth sailing” right from the get go…

He said to himself - “It’s all good, just a matter of time before the floodgates open… “.

4 months down the road, those “floodgates” never opened. The foot traffic passed his gym by - not even noticing he was there.

That’s when I got the phone call...

“Ron, things just aren’t working as I expected, clients were meant to come streaming in, but they’re not. I can barely keep the lights on”.

I could sense a hint of desperation in his voice so I decided to pay his gym a visit the next day.

His space looked amazing, filled to the brim with top notch equipment and - much to my dismay - it smelled great too!

You see - gyms are not meant to “smell great”. I mean - have you ever been to a packed gym that smelled great?

Painful truth - Martin (and was in a pickle. I wanted to help him get to where he deserves to be…

As we sat and talked, I asked Marty what his marketing plan was. I was curious about what he was doing to get the clients he wanted?

"I just thought I would open the doors and they’d come - maybe get some referrals from my current guys…“, Martin said.

DANG!

I cringed upon hearing that.

Martin had just spent all his money on a great facility and here he was, relying on “hope” to get people through the doors.

Sadly enough - it’s a fatal mistake a lot of gym owners make (this goes for both new owners as well as veterans).

You can wait (pray) for free clients to just “appear” or you could spend just a few quid each day and - as by magic - make them come to you.

Martin needs my help getting his gym buzzing with clients. I know I can help him implement a watertight marketing strategy that will do just that.

My workflow consists of 5 key elements and 1 simple set up - let me quickly explain this to you:

STEP 1 - DEFINING WHO IS YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE?

STEP 2 - CREATE A COMPELLING AD THAT TALKS DIRECTLY (and only) TO YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE.

STEP 3 - CREATE A LANDING PAGE THAT REINFORCES THE COMPELLING MESSAGE TO THE CORRECT AUDIENCE.

STEP 4 - CRAFT AN OFFER “THEY CAN NOT REFUSE” AND RETARGETING THOSE THAT (for some weird reason) DID REFUSE THE OFFER.

STEP 5 - CONSTANTLY TEST, TWEAK AND OPTIMISE THE CAMPAIGN SO YOU’RE SPENDING CLOSE TO NOTHING BUT STILL KEEP IDEAL CLIENTS COMING IN.

You see - Martin didn’t “get it” either - his eyes glazed over and he definitely seemed overwhelmed with all the info I threw at him.

Martin is a great trainer, but a lousy marketer and he realises that 😊

So we came to an agreement…

Martin asked if I wanted to take on all that boring and highly technical stuff above and manage his campaigns.

I got to work on his audiences, wrote his ads and designed the gym’s landing pages.

From that point on - things started to move fast.

Within a week of launching his first campaign, his phone was ringing off the hook. Not only that - the people who started flocking towards his gym were the “right” kind of people Martin always wanted as a clientele.

Blame my campaign for that 😉

I got another call from Martin - only this time, he sounded super excited…

“I don’t know what you did Ron, but can you turn it down a notch? I’m actually FULLY BOOKED!”

The campaign I had set up for Marty was done in such a way that it only attracted the kind of clients he really wanted to work with.

Yup - that’s just one of my “secrets” 😉

Doing it this way, Marty got the chance to meet with them and "cherry pick" the ones he really wanted to work with.

No longer was Martin begging for customers and he wasn’t forced into working with just any Tom, Dick and Harry.

He sure as heck got rid of all those “clients from hell” - I’m sure you know the ones I’m talking about, don’t you? 😊

Just a few weeks ago - I paid Martin a visit again.

He ended up servicing the PERFECT 35 clients (who, by the way, he charges almost FOUR TIMES his regular fee from before).

Others are kicking down his door to get some training time.

Martin also hired a full-time female trainer who only trains women - yes, I launched a campaign specifically for them as well.

Looking around the gym, I was happy for him. This time, when I took a whiff of the gym, it made me grimace.

Martin looked at me and said:”Why are you smiling?”.

“It doesn’t smell that great anymore”, I replied back to him.

He looked at me - grinning ear to ear.

“Yes, just the way I like it - thanks so much, Ron!”.
