While working on my websites including BellaPinay UAE BellaPinay www.bellapinay.co.uk, I found myself reflecting on my experiences, friendships and journey in Abu Dhabi — a city where I spent a significant chapter of my life building connections, working with amazing people and growing both personally and professionally.
I recently wrote a piece inspired by those experiences, the lessons learned, and the incredible Filipino and international communities I was fortunate to meet along the way. Abu Dhabi will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope to return once life settles down, pick up my belongings in the region and I’m ready to travel again.
To everyone who was part of that journey — thank you. 🤍
Abu Dhabi: Not Everyone Stays When the Opportunities Run Dry
One thing Abu Dhabi teaches you very quickly is this:
Not everyone is there for the same reason.
Over the years working between London, Spain and the UAE, I experienced one of the most formative chapters of my life in Abu Dhabi—building within the Filipino community, engaging with British expat leaders, working across business, real estate-linked projects, sports initiatives, and reconnecting with the house music scene through UK DJs who had also made the UAE their home.
It was a time of real growth, but also real clarity.
Because in international business, entertainment and community work, you start to see patterns very clearly:
Some people build with you.
Some people benefit from you.
And some disappear when the opportunity is no longer convenient.
That reality exists in every market—but especially in fast-moving global hubs like the UAE, where relationships, networks and timing matter as much as talent and ideas.
What stayed consistent for me, however, were the people who valued *real connection*.
Filipino community leaders who showed up beyond events.
British expat professionals who believed in collaboration over competition.
Friends and partners who understood that trust is not seasonal—it is constant.
Those relationships are what I value most from my time in Abu Dhabi.
Not titles. Not transactions. Not temporary alignment.
I also learned something very important through that journey:
Your global network, your creativity, your access and your ability to connect people will always be tested in environments like this. And how people respond when there is nothing immediate to gain tells you everything you need to know.
From my background in London’s financial services industry, to years in mainstream house music promotion, to working across PR, events, business development and Filipino community initiatives including sports and cultural programmes like UFBL Sports Unlimited and grassroots basketball activations in Abu Dhabi—one truth has remained the same:
Real communities are not built on opportunity.
They are built on consistency.
This is exactly why BellaPinay UAE exists.
Not just as an events platform—but as a cultural and business bridge connecting Filipino and international communities who are serious about collaboration, growth and long-term impact.
As we continue expanding across London, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, the mission is simple:
Work with people who value loyalty.
Build with people who stay consistent.
And create spaces where culture, business and entertainment actually meet in a meaningful way.
Because in the end, your reputation is not built by what you say.
It is built by who still stands with you when the opportunity is gone.
