Something shifted in the room at The London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE this week.

We were there to ask what it means to look at our relationships differently and develop a human-first growth blueprint to more prioritise and decide intentional actions to arrive at better aligned growth.

The conversation reminded me why I do this work.

When we can accelerate almost everything, having that clarity is the edge.
What does a trust-first commercial conversation actually look like?

Who do you trust enough, to tell you when you've got it wrong?

Last week, QED brought together a select group of founders, operators, and technical leaders for a closed-door session on what AI infrastructure actually looks like when the stakes are real.

We moved past the hype. No GPT wrappers. No off-the-shelf demos. The conversation centred on what it takes to build and own your AI stack end-to-end; self-hosted LLMs and SLMs, sovereign data pipelines, and the governance architecture that makes agentic systems safe to deploy at scale.

The signal-to-noise ratio in most AI conversations is poor. So we focused on the hard parts: model accuracy under distribution shift, human-in-the-loop oversight frameworks, and the operational reality of maintaining inference infrastructure in highly regulated environments from Defence, Education to enterprise.

Because in those sectors, an agentic workflow doesn't just need to perform. It needs to be auditable, explainable, and failure-safe.

The room understood that instinctively and the discussion pushed well past the scheduled close, into workforce upskilling, technical ownership strategy, and what it genuinely takes to build AI capability.

This was the first. There will be more.

The future of work isn't being written in a textbook. We are navigating a seismic shift in how value is created.

You cannot design tomorrow’s commercial models from the outside looking in.
