Katherine here, reporting from my first visit to 🇩🇰
After years of hearing about Copenhagen’s design festival, I finally experienced it for myself last week.
What struck me most wasn’t a particular launch or installation, although there were many. It was how completely the city embraces the event. Showrooms, galleries, courtyards and cafés all become part of the experience, creating a festival that feels woven into the fabric of Copenhagen rather than contained within it. And, for now at least, mostly without the queues.
There were standout exhibitions, inspiring conversations and, perhaps unsurprisingly, more showroom DJs than I expected 🎧
As the festival continues to grow, many of my conversations centred on how it can retain the character and sense of community that have made it such a distinctive alternative to larger design fairs.
For a first visit, it certainly lived up to expectations.
