And with that, our Milan 2026 is officially wrapped for another year. From Brera to Alcova and beyond, we were once again reminded why this city captures our design-loving hearts time and again.

As with every year, the conversation always turns to the value these weeks can bring, especially when faced with continual challenges to meet those economic headwinds. However, we leave inspired, delighted and with a renewed sense of hope for storytelling.

Our experience helping on the ground with ‘When Apricots Blossom’, taught us that people still crave those stories. They want craft and design to be the news. We’ll be sharing our thoughts in our Journal and over on our Substack in the next few days - make sure you’re subscribed to both!

Over and out Milano…we’re off to re-sole our shoes and lie down for a minute…🍑🌸🍹👟

'When Apricots Blossom' is Uzbekistan's debut exhibition at Milan Design Week, forging a dialogue between contemporary design and traditional craft.

International designers and Uzbek artisans explored the cultural and ecological heritage of the Aral Sea region.

At its heart, The Garden Pavilion is a "deconstructed yurt" conceived by WHY Architecture which is the centrepiece of the entire exposition.

What the team has achieved is nothing short of extraordinary, and it was a pleasure for Sandford to be a small part of it on the ground. Huge credit to Judy, Adnan and the whole team for a very successful and memorable event 🍑🌸

The ideal colour palette for your home in 2026 is all about colour with depth, warmth and personality.
Here are three trends to watch for in your home next year:

🍷 Dark reds
Think rich cherry, burgundy and plum tones. These hues create an elegant and warm interior, making a statement in living rooms, bedrooms or even hallways.
Perfect for spaces that want drama without overwhelming.

💙 Atmospheric blues
Have you ever thought about how softer, grounded blues anchor a room while still feeling fresh? Creating calm, timeless interiors, these tones are classic interior choices yet extremely adaptable. Ideal for bedrooms, studies or serene living areas.

🌿 Herbal greens and earthy tones
From mossy greens to clay-inspired shades, these colours bring nature indoors. They work beautifully on walls, cabinetry or accent ceilings, building connection and a grounded, restorative vibe.

Which shade will you bring into your space first?

Hotel Interior Experience () 2025 brought together the very best of hospitality design, and we were excited to be back at to take it all in. This year’s theme, Culture Clash, was a celebration of luxury hotel design and how it can bridge cultures and open us to traditions, aesthetics, and values from around the world.

We joined 5,000 designers, architects, developers, operators and suppliers for standout installations, design-led exhibitions and some truly thought-provoking conversations on the HIX Talks stage.

What resonated most was how the event highlighted hospitality’s power to connect people, showcasing how every culture brings its own philosophy of care, welcome and experience. Industry experts reflected on the current and future luxury design landscape and shared insightful tips on leveraging technological and cultural shifts whilst keeping luxury hospitality relevant to target audiences.

The session ended with a powerful reminder that a luxury experience is created through connection with local diversity, and highlighted that the design landscape has all the tools to push that to the next level.

If you attended the event, what resonated with you?
