Produced Near-By

Produced Near-By Skip the supermarkets and buy, local buy better.

Find the best local farmers, growers and makers produce near you via Produced Near-By, the local producer guide and directory.

28/05/2026

Yes in case you were asking, it is totally, absolutely and completely free to be included on Produced Near-By.

Properly free.
Not “free-until-I-email-you-about-an-upgrade”

But I can only include the ones doing it properly:
The smaller farm.
The grower whose name is on the label.
Not the supermarket repackager.
Not white-label “craft” that’s been shipped halfway round the world.

How to apply:

Sign up as a business at producednearby.com.
Create a listing. You must pick the premium option to add your photos (still free).
Submit it.
That’s it.

Who is this is for:
🌱 Local farms and growers
🌱 CSAs and veg box schemes
🌱 Craftspeople and makers
🌱 Farmers markets and farm shops
🌱 Country shows and farm shows
🌱 A place to stay run by a farmer, grower or maker like a campsite, a holiday let
🌱 Experiences too like a farm tour, a wine tasting, a day on the land

If that’s you, or you know someone it should be, please tag them or send them this.

If you also feel like adding this to your stories that would be amazing! So I can really help get the word out about it.

Thanks so much.

I’m now off to find a quiet shaded corner to park the van in 🥵😅

I love seeing who joins this guide I’m growing.

Every time I smile and think yes - it’s definitely the small farms that are the most interesting ones!

(Not the big ones, with made up names and large marketing teams).

Here are 3 great ones that have just joined in the last few days (link in bio to see them in the guide).

dairy, milks a small herd of Jersey cows once a day at the foot of the Black Mountains, the calves staying with their mothers until they wean. Bottle every pint themselves. They have an honesty fridge in a shed opposite St John’s Church in Newton.

grow oyster, shiitake and lion’s mane mushrooms near York. Deliver to local restaurants a@d sell at local markets too

And , two acres on a sunny hillside used to grow cut flowers just outside Chipping Norton. Sown, planted and harvested by hand. Pick-your-own from June to September.

Follow all 3 of them.

Save this post for when you’re in their area and want to visit.

And …

Are you also a small-scale farmer, grower or maker doing it properly?

Or a farmers’ market, country show or farm shop?

I’d love to include you in the guide too.

Sign up via the link in my bio and submit a listing to apply to join - it’s totally free to be included - all I ask is you help spread the word about the guide. This way it will turn into something really useful for all of us.

And yes my hula girl is still happily dancing away on my van dashboard 🕺!

Do you know that quote “I didn’t have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead” (Mark Twain supposedly said it - probably wasn’t him 😅)

Today I definitely don’t have time to make slick Insta graphics, so here’s my scrappy written version.

This is how to apply to be in Produced Near-By - my guide to the farmers, growers and makers doing it properly across Britain and Ireland.

Really simple.
Just 3 steps.

1. Sign up.
2. Complete your profile.
3. Add a listing of your business.

Submit. That’s it.

I’ll check it and if you meet the guide’s criteria, you’re in.

Totally free. All I ask in return is that you help me spread the word.

And if you get stuck at any time DM and I can help you apply.

producednearby.com/signup (link also in bio)

Anyone else still prefer a notebook and a pen or am I the only one?

PS you’ll be pleased to hear the guide itself is not scrappy at all, I’ve spent the last 3 years getting the tech and development of it right which means once you’re part of it google, Alexa and the likes will find you more easily

How can I still be wearing my bobble hat in May? 🤯🙄😅

A quick hello and reintroduction from me and my dog Sybil - and why I’ve created this guide - Produced Near-By.

I’m Kate.
This is Sybil my black lab.
And yes, we’re still travelling around in Gus, the VW campervan bus, whenever we can.

In short: 3 years ago I went looking for the farmers, growers and makers doing it properly across Britain and Ireland and it was really …. REALLY …. hard to find them. So I built a guide so other people can find them more easily .

Think of it as an Airbnb style filter but for the local farmers, growers, makers, farmers markets, farm shops, farm shows and places to stay run by or that support local producers doing it properly.

And it’s free to be included. And free to use. 🙌

Because wouldn’t it be great if we all bought more things from local producers?

So … if you grow, make, cook, host or teach something local - and you’re doing it properly - DM me.

I’ll check what you’re doing and if you meet the criteria I’ll help you add yourself to the guide.

And if you know someone who should be on it, DM me their name. I’ll go and find them too.

And if you’re just here for the producers - welcome 👋. I aim to add 5 or so a day. So keep checking back for ever days new arrivals.

I’ve added a link in the bio for the guide.

I received this message yesterday 😊.

A small market garden had signed up to Produced Near-By on Tuesday, so over my morning cup of team I went onto the guide and gave their listing a bit of a “glow up”!

Why?

Well their original listing was great, but I knew it had more potential to get picked up by google if we added a bit more of a story. So that’s what I did, oh and I added another listing for them for their farm shop too.

When I do this I always check that the farmer or maker is happy with what I’ve done and they can change anything they don’t like themselves by logging into their account (or I can do it for them).

So … what I’m trying to say is this …

if you’ve been thinking about joining my guide and didn’t think you had the time to do it, or aren’t a fan of writing, just sign up and apply by adding a listing and if you are one of local producers doing things slowly and properly I can do the write up for you.

There’s a link to sign up in my bio.

This may be a short term offer btw …so I’d get in now! As I’m a one woman show if it goes a bit crazy I may not keep up 😅

is eating only produce from the UK right now. Her goal is to do this for a whole year.

A chef and writer, the dish above is one of hers from the other week (recipe on her grid). Please give her a follow.

Joanna found my page at the weekend, which made my day, and I’m hoping Produced Near-By will help@her track down farmers and growers she’ll need to buy from.

Hats off to you Joanna 🙌, I admit I’d miss chocolate too much!

What would you miss if you tried this challenge too?

My brother, sister and I grew up sea fishing on the Cumbrian coast. We’d go out in Morecambe Bay in Enigma, our little 16ft “Fishing16” day fishing boat or go long lining on the sand flats out off the village where we lived.

To this day my brother is still a mad keen sea fisherman.

So I’m a big fan of - a 24-hour celebration of British fishing and seafood.

It runs ever year on one day from 5am to 5am. This year it’s Thursday 14 May.

Founded by and , look up the hashtag, find local fishermen and fishmongers and start following them ready for the big day.

Tag a fisherman or fishmonger near you too here if you know and good one and I’ll share them too.

You don’t usually think about local producers when you’re heading to the lido.

Remembering your goggles is way more important 😅 !

But this afternoon I had my first (very brief🥶) dip of the season at at the end of my road and I realised there are three properly good ones within a few minutes’ walk of the pool.

So here they are if Brockwell’s on your list this summer.

🍦 : ice cream and gelato made in small batches. minus12.co.uk

🍞 Bakery: legendary sourdough buns with flavours from Palestine. bunheadbakery.com

🍺 - local brewery and taproom that always has a great atmosphere. birdhousebrewing.com

Who are the good local producers near your local lido?
I’d love to start a list.
