👑 Ahead of the upcoming Coronation, Frances Segelman Petchey has unveiled her latest sculpture of King Charles III. Hobs 3D has helped to reproduce her latest sculpture through the power of 3D printing.

Segelman's preferred technique is to sculpt in clay and then cast directly in bronze. To mark this historic occasion she has had the clay sculpture 3D scanned, rescaled, and then reproduced through 3D printing. This resized sculpture has then been cast in bronze at Bronze Age Foundry and finished with a bronze patina. Hobs 3D are delighted to have participated in the creation of this prestigious new work. We're extremely proud that our 3D services have helped return these historic statues to Brixton! 👏👏👏

We've worked alongside renowned artist Kevin Atherton to unveil his brand new statue of Joy Battick, which stands opposite the original statue of her from 37 years ago. These statues are part of "Platforms Piece - The Return" which are believed to have been the first sculptural representation of British black people in England in a public art context. Atherton commented that he wanted to "represent the demographic of Brixton" in his choice of models, and said choosing Joy was a "no-brainer".

The original sculpture of Joy, which was created in 1986, was made using a handmade body cast, and the updated Joy II has utilised 3D scanning, 3D printing methods as well as bronze casting to achieve her full glory.
