Mokulito (wood lithography) 🌿✨
Originating in Japan in the 1970s, mokulito is a unique and expressive printmaking technique that blends the principles of lithography with the natural beauty of wood. Using greasy inks and crayons on plywood plates, artists create images based on the simple yet powerful idea that oil and water don’t mix.
What makes mokulito truly special is its unpredictability—each print evolves as the wood grain gradually reveals itself, creating rich textures and atmospheric layers of colour. No two prints are ever the same. You can even combine mokulito with woodcut techniques to achieve striking contrasts and bold lines.
In this 3-day workshop, you’ll explore both traditional and experimental approaches:
🖌 Learn how to prepare and print mokulito plates
🎨 Experiment with a wide range of drawing materials
🧪 Explore resists, stencils, masks & chine collé
🪵 Create unique, organic prints full of character
Led by experienced printmaker Caroline Whitehead, this course is perfect for both beginners and seasoned artists who enjoy a hands-on, exploratory approach to mark-making.

Discover the art of Screenprint on Paper 🎨✨
Screenprinting has been around since the 1920s, but it truly took off as an art form in the 1950s—opening the door to bold, experimental creativity. Today, artists continue to push its boundaries, creating everything from graphic illustrations and photographic prints to expressive marks and delicate hand-drawn effects.
This beginner-friendly course offers a structured introduction to screenprinting, where you’ll explore a range of multicolour techniques including monoprints, hand-drawn acetates, paper stencils, and photo stencils.
As you progress, you’ll develop your own project using the techniques that inspire you most. Along the way, you’ll gain hands-on experience with professional processes—preparing screens, mixing inks, using a vacuum bed, registering prints for editioning, and exposing images with a UV box.
