Today’s Meta outage was another reminder for business owners.
For around 60 minutes, different Meta apps and services were down or not working properly. Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, pages, messages, and other services were affected. Many users also experienced unusual logout and connection issues.
Now think about it from a business point of view.
If your entire business depends only on Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp, then even a one-hour outage can create serious problems.
You may miss customer messages.
You may lose orders.
Your ads may stop performing.
Your customers may not be able to reach you.
Your sales process may pause completely.
And this is not only about outages.
What if your page gets restricted?
What if your ad account gets disabled?
What if your page gets blocked?
What if the platform changes its rules or algorithm?
That is why every business should think beyond Meta.
Of course, use Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, and other social platforms. They are powerful tools for marketing and communication.
But don’t build your entire business on rented land.
Build your own proper storefront. Build a website where customers can visit, see your products or services, place orders, contact you, and trust your brand.
A website will not remove every headache. Technical issues can happen anywhere. But with your own website, you have more control over your business, your customer journey, your branding, and your data.
Social media is great for attention.
But your website should be your business home.
Today’s 60-minute outage should be a wake-up call:
If your business depends only on Meta, it’s time to build something you actually control.
