We sponsored the Catford XMAS tree this year. Our previous studio was in the Old Town Hall in Catford and we would pass by this tree every Christmas, it looked neglected and not festive at all, and we always hoped one day it will look festive and bring some joy to Catford Broadway. A little bit of imagination, creativity and teamwork from Champion 3D and Flow Gardeners for 2024 and the tree looking its best and we are happy to have had the opportunity to decorate it. We will share some behind the scenes photos on how we put together the miniature Catford Cat topper soon. cc Lewisham Council

Champion 3D recently immersed ourselves in the fantastic world of model making which brought together 3D Design, 3D Printing, and meticulous hand finishing. Our latest commission by Gunnersbury Park & Museum involved recreating several iconic British Sci-Fi props for their latest exhibition 'Set to Stun'. The project was not only enjoyable but also showcased the fantastic capabilities of 3D Printing.

Our skilled in-house 3D Artists and Technicians at Champion 3D brought to life the F.O.A.D Gun from Red Dwarf, a Monster Prosthetic Head, and the iconic TARDIS from 'Doctor Who'.

These 3D-printed replicas are on display now and can be touched by members of the public, while the original props are behind glass. This enhances the museum experience for all visitors but most importantly improves accessibility for individuals who are blind or partially sighted.

The exhibition celebrates the world of science fiction in film and television, spanning from the 1960s to today, with a special focus on the skilled artisans, artists, and craftspeople from West London who brought these imaginative worlds to life.

From laser beams to quirky androids, from journeys to distant planets to thrilling alien invasions, visitors will be treated to a captivating and interactive display featuring sets, costumes, prosthetics, props, and artistic visualisations from beloved British Sci-Fi classics such as Doctor Who, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and Red Dwarf. The exhibition offers informative and engaging content for sci-fi enthusiasts and provides an enjoyable experience for families, complete with workshops designed for both adults and children.

Where: Gunnersbury Park Museum - Gunnersbury Park & Museum
When: Open Now until 2nd June 2024
Time: Tuesday - Sunday: 10am - 4.30pm
Note: Closed Monday.

Our client required a scale model of 4 rooms that would be displayed at a trade show stand in Liverpool. The miniature rooms were digital renders of real rooms, and the 3D printed model would be used as a prop to help tell the story of 4 people who were interviewed in the 4 rooms.

We meticulously prepared the client’s 3D model for 3D printing, to ensure that it would print well. We checked each piece of furniture for mesh defects and corrected them where needed. We then 3D printed the furniture, walls, and floors of the 4 rooms separately, taking care to 3D print the intricate small items (like the kettle, toothbrush, and slippers) with sufficient detail. We assembled the 4 rooms and furniture items into one final piece. We sanded and hand-painted the 3D model in the custom dark red brand colour specified by the client. We built custom packaging and arranged a courier to transport the 3D model as one piece to Liverpool in time for the trade show.

The 3D printed scale model made it to the trade show in good time and proved to be a great asset to the client’s stand. The 3D model attracted visitors and allowed them to interact with the stand, bringing to life the virtual world seen in their promotional videos.

We recently designed & manufactured this 600mm 3D wall sculpture. Inspired by Banksy the "Girl with Balloon" stencil mural. It was digitally hand sculpted in-house by our talented 3D Artist and then in parts at our studio in London in recycled bio-plastic and then assembled and hand finished by in matte white and warm gold. It is pretty amazing what is possibly when you combine art, 3D printing and talent.

The challenging part was interpreting a 2D image thinking of it in 3D, getting the proportions and facial expression just right was really important too, with a slight change of expression making the sculpt either amusingly too old or too young.

We hope you enjoy it!

Off to a happy customer. 😁

When we received this model from the architect it was at 1:1 scale and was no where near being we worked with the client to correct the mesh file and get the mole 3D print ready! And then we 3D printed this large massing model ready for an exhibition. This happens a lot with architectural 3D mesh files made in software like SketchUp, Rhino, Revit etc the models are never ready to 3D print out of the box. We can help and have useful guides and the skills to correct defective and unprintable mesh files. Contact today if you need our services.
