We love a bit of rule-breaking - and so, it seems, did the designer of the Google logo:
The sequence goes primary colours… then suddenly a green “l.”
That was intentional: it signals that Google doesn’t follow conventions.
It’s a subtle piece of brand philosophy baked into the logo itself.
✍️ Designer/marketing notes: people already have an idea of what to expect next. When that idea is disrupted, it becomes more memorable, even if it is done unconsciously.
