"Travel clinic near me" is one of the most valuable searches a UK pharmacy can win.

Most pharmacies never do.

A patient searching three weeks before a trip is not browsing. They are ready to book today, and they will call the first credible clinic they find.

That single search can be worth £300 to £600 per patient.

So why are so many pharmacies invisible for it?

Because they do the same few generic things and hope.

The clinics that win the local map pack get a specific set of signals right. These are the ones we build for every travel clinic we work with:

→ One page per vaccine, not one generic "travel health" page. Google ranks "yellow fever vaccine" and "malaria tablets" as separate pages, so a single page can only win one term.

→ The right Google Business Profile category. Your primary category decides which searches you are even eligible for. For the travel map pack that means "Travel Clinic" as the primary category, with "Vaccination Centre" added, not leaving it on "Pharmacy" and hoping.

→ Every vaccine listed as its own named service with a price, not buried under one vague "travel vaccinations" line. Google matches specific services to specific searches.

→ Schema markup most competitors skip. The structured data that puts review stars, prices and FAQs straight into the search result.

→ A page for every popular destination. "Travel vaccines for Kenya" has far less competition and ranks fast.

→ Reviews on a timed, automatic system, prompting travel patients once they are back from the trip and most likely to leave a detailed review.

None of this is luck. It is a checklist.

One London pharmacy we worked with went from roughly one enquiry a month to 80 bookings a month on exactly these signals, applied consistently.

Most patients who qualify for a free Pharmacy First consultation have no idea it exists.

And pharmacies are about to be asked to do even more. The government has just announced £340m in new funding for community pharmacy, the scheme is expected to grow, and more pharmacists will be able to prescribe.

More services. More demand. More reason for patients to choose a pharmacy over waiting for a GP. But only if they know your pharmacy can help.

Picture a child waking up with earache on a Saturday. The parent rings 111, hunts for a GP slot, or heads to A&E. Your pharmacy could often help quickly, and for free, but it never crosses their mind.

That's the gap a good clinic chatbot closes. Not a generic one that gives vague answers, but one built around your pharmacy, your services and your booking system. It asks a few simple questions, checks if the patient may be eligible, explains the service is NHS-funded, and helps them book.

It moves the patient from 'I need help' to 'I've booked,' which is exactly where many pharmacies lose them.

The expansion is coming. The pharmacies that benefit most will be the ones patients can find, understand and book with easily.

70% of patients never come back after their first clinic visit.

Not because of price. Not because of a competitor.

Nobody followed up.

For a typical UK clinic, that's around £20,000 a year walking out the door.

What works is automated recall: the system gently brings patients back when they're due, without anyone having to pick up the phone.

New post explains how it works. Link below 👇

We've audited over 30 UK clinic websites this year.

The same 6 problems show up on nearly every one. Pharmacy, dental, aesthetics, weight loss. Doesn't matter the speciality.

1. The site loads in 6.8 seconds on mobile.

By 3 seconds, half the patients have bounced. Google notices too. Slow sites don't rank.

2. No service pages.

The homepage tells me they offer composite bonding. The site has no /composite-bonding page. Google can't rank a clinic for treatments that aren't on their own URL.

3. The website asks patients to call.

Patients want to book online. They don't want to phone a clinic between 9 and 5 to schedule an appointment. If the website doesn't let them self-book, they go to one that does.

4. Last blog post: 2022.

By 2026, that's an abandoned site. Google reads it the same way. So do the patients who land there expecting current health advice.

5. Google Business Profile: empty.

80% of local clinic searches end on the Google Business map, not the website. That's where most patients form their first impression of a clinic. And on most profiles I look at, nothing's been touched in 2 years.

6. No schema mark-up.

Schema is hidden code that tells Google what each page actually is: the treatment, the price range, the postcode. Most clinic sites don't have any. Without it, Google has to guess.

6 patterns, every audit.

If you're a clinic owner and you're not sure how your site stacks up against these, message me. I'll have a look and tell you what I see.

Inheriting a 3.2-star pharmacy is harder than starting from scratch.

The team behind Fulham Palace Pharmacy took over a community pharmacy and travel clinic on Fulham Palace Road. Solid clinical team. Good location. Sister branch to their existing South Ealing site. But they inherited a 3.2-star Google rating and almost no digital presence to work with.

A 3.2-star rating in 2026 isn't just unflattering. It quietly turns away every new patient who Googles the pharmacy before walking through the door. No amount of clinical quality fixes that on its own.

So we rebuilt the operation from the ground up.

Here's what we shipped in the first few weeks:

· A new website, fast on mobile, ranking locally for Fulham
· Custom pharmacy admin to launch new services in minutes
· Digital consultation forms, replacing paper across the board
· Private blood testing pathway, fully bookable online
· Online pharmacy for Wegovy, Mounjaro and weight loss
· Nationwide ecommerce shop covering 400+ OTC products
· Travel advisor that recommends vaccinations by destination
· AI content engine publishing clinically grounded blogs
· Automated Google review system, rebuilding the rating week by week

Where they are now:

· Google rating climbing from 3.2 to 4+ ⭐
· 40+ services live, every one bookable online
· Ecommerce shipping nationwide
· Rising visibility across Fulham search 📈

The pharmacy now runs with the digital infrastructure of a national operator while still feeling like the trusted independent on Fulham Palace Road. The clinical team gets to focus on patients. The reputation rebuilds quietly in the background, one five-star review at a time.

If you've taken over a clinic or pharmacy with baggage, this is what turning it around looks like.

The reviews aren't permanent. What's broken can be fixed faster than most owners realise.

If you're sitting on a reputation problem you didn't create, message me. We've now done this enough times that the playbook is clear.

If you sell something on your site consider how you present your offer. Do you simply present all the technical jargon or do you present the benefits to customers?

Here’s an example:

Bad copywriting: "2GBs of storage."

Great copywriting: "1,000 songs in your pocket."

Sell the benefits, not the features.

If you’re selling a product or service.

Don’t think “how can I sell my product”

Instead think “How can I serve my customers best way possible”

You’ll sell more.

If your visitors are taking their time making a decision, here’s how to get them to act immediately:

Apply URGENCY.

Give your visitors a reason to act promptly.

Many companies manufacture urgency into their marketing plans, such as time-limited offers. For example, a company may offer free accessories for anyone who orders by the end of the month. What happens the following month? No more offer? Instead, they simply switch to another time-limited offer.

Such offers allow the company to always have a reason for the visitor to act promptly.
