Here’s what being behind the scenes taught me.

Why events are making a big comeback in 2026.

Hint it’s all about connection.

I’ve filmed and photographed over 150 events over the years, and I’m hearing the same thing from event organisers everywhere:

They’re planning more events for 2026 than ever before. Why?

Because events are delivering a higher long term ROI than any other marketing activity in their arsenal.

From what I’m seeing on the ground, people are genuinely keen to get out there and connect in person more so than we’ve seen in years.

From behind the lens, you see subtle patterns others miss.

Seamless events are NEVER accidental.

If you’re organising or marketing an event, here’s what I’ve seen make the biggest impact.

📍 Location drives turnout.
🎤 Format matters. Panels, keynotes, firesides, the structure 🔑.
⚡ Tech will glitch. Have backups.
📶 Good WiFi = free marketing.
🍽️ Feed people well. Good food = good mood.
🔄 Expect the unexpected. Something will go wrong, plan for it.
🤝 Delegate early. Don’t try to do everything yourself.
🧘 Trust your prep.
✨ Have fun, your energy sets the tone.
🏷️ The little details count. Signage, name tags, sets the tone.
☕ Build in breaks. People need time to network, digest.
🎥 Brief your film crew on the moments that matter.
🎯 End with a clear CTA. What do you want people to do next?
💬 Stick around after. That’s where the real value is.

Venue scouting is one of my favourite parts of the job.

It’s where you get to tell half the story before a single word is spoken.

Think of your film location as a silent character in the story. If it’s not pulling its weight, recast it.

Planning a video shoot?

Here are my top 3 B2B venue scouting tips:

1) Match location to message. Talking about people? Have them in the background. Innovation? Choose modern settings. Heritage? Shoot in traditional spaces. Your venue can contradict your entire script or reinforce every word.

2) Check the practical basics. Power access, ambient noise, and natural light will make or break your day. Your film crew will thank you for

3) Choose authenticity over aesthetics. IF in doubt. The space where real work happens tells a better story. Every. Single. Time.

Here is what I love about TikTok…

I was at TikTok the other day. The talk was all about B2B and TikTok.

My main learnings are:

Authenticity outperforms polish.

Real people, behind-the-scenes stories, and human voices build more trust than highly polished.

The most effective B2B TikTok videos educate first and sell second, using quick tips, insights, and storytelling to establish thought leadership.

TikTok is not going anywhere.

We won’t be seeing CEO’s dancing just yet…but it’s a platform not to be ignored.

TikTok is where instagram was a few years ago.

B2B brands that get in early will win!

The unsexy truths of B2B video content...

You don’t NEED:

❌ Fancy Cameras
❌ Hollywood Budgets
❌ Celebrity appearances or endorsements
❌ Million-view videos
❌ Perfect lighting setups
❌ Viral trends or trending sounds
❌ Expensive microphones
❌ Studio locations

Instead focus on this:

✅ Provide a clear takeaway (that your viewer can use immediately).
✅ Answer a burning question (your ideal customer is already asking).
✅ Talk from your expertise (in ways only you are uniquely able to)
✅ Speak directly about how to solve your customers biggest problems.
✅ Showcase the people behind the scenes.
✅ Asking for feedback!
✅ Depth over breadth. One incredibly useful video is worth 50.
✅ Clarity over creativity. People don’t buy what they don’t understand.
✅ Consistency over frequency. A sustainable rhythm you can maintain.

Change this ONE thing the next time you publish a video!

I’ve been working with an Enterprise SaaS company over the last few months.

The data showed:

Majority traffic was desktop users.

Traffic spike during business hours so (most likely a person reviewing the content while at work with no sound on).

Video on the landing page had 3 to 6 second drop-off rate.

Team wanted to remove it entirely.

Before scrapping the video, I suggested one simple fix: Add subtitles.

Initial results?

✅ 50%+ increase in watch time

✅ Measurable conversion lift from the landing page

The lesson: Add subtitles by default.

Not only does it make your content accessible, but algorithms favor it AND it directly impacts conversions.
