June is Pride Month and this year is a significant year for the Pride movement and the LGBQT+ community as we commemorate 50 Years since the first Pride took place in the UK.

Of course, we’ll celebrate with rainbows but we’re also keen to focus on a sustainable approach that will continue our efforts to foster a more inclusive culture at Emperor. In last years’ inclusion survey, many partners told us they lacked confidence in having conversations around diversity and in calling out behaviours. They wanted to build skills in how to show up for partners who hold traditionally marginalized identities, including race, disability, gender and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

An ally is any person that actively promotes and aspires to advance the culture of inclusion through intentional, positive and conscious behaviours. So this year, to celebrate 50 years of Pride, we’re exploring 50 research-backed steps that we can take to show up as allies. We’ve partnered with Lean In (of Sheryl Sandberg fame) to join their Allyship at Work programme. We’ll be training up a bunch of partners to facilitate a series of internal workshops designed to help all partners improve their confidence in allyship this month and beyond.

Maggie's Centres are a sanctuary not only for people suffering from cancer, but also their friends and families. They offer free cancer support across the UK to help people through some of the toughest times of their lives.

In May, a team of 60 Emperor people and clients are cycling from London to Amsterdam to raise £60k for Maggie's and we hope that you will help us in supporting them. All the money you donate will go towards helping someone like Steve.
