Being asked to work on a corporate brand identity is exciting. It means our designers have the privilege of deciding how that company will be presented in public, in a wide range of visual presentations, and what the subliminal messaging of that branding will say.
Here are our tips for creating an effective corporate brand kit:
1. Understand the brand identity: What is the essence of the brand. What does it stand for and what do they want to tell their target audience.
2. The corporate logo is the foundation of all corporate messaging. It needs to be a visual representation of the brand which quickly communicates a brand personality and is memorable
3. Choose a colour palette that aligns with the brand's personality and resonates with their target audience. Choosing primary, secondary, and accent colours that work well together is important.
4. Select suitable typography to convey the brand's tone and voice. Legibility is as important as style.
5. Establish brand imagery guidelines: Determine the style and types of images that best represent your brand. Decide on factors such as photography or illustration style, subject matter, and composition. Consistency in imagery will help reinforce your brand identity.
6. Branded templates: Our designers provide templates for commonly used materials, such as business cards, letterheads, presentations, zoom backdrops and social media profiles plus posts. Consistent branding across all visual materials will help that brand identity to build and resonate.
7. Brand guidelines (defining factors such as spacing, placement, minimum size etc) help to ensure brand assets are used with optimum consistency and therefore effectiveness. We love to design for new organisations or to re-model an existing brand in need of a refresh.
