(And that’s exactly what’s getting in your way)

Because when you care deeply about your work, your clients, and your standards – putting yourself out there starts to feel extra hard.

You overthink every post.
You tweak your message a bunch of times.

Here’s how to stop getting in your own way 👇

✨ Step 1: Identify what’s holding you back
→ Don’t know what to say? Start with what makes you different.
→ Worried about sounding cringe? Think “helping” not “selling.”
→ Overthinking? Focus on one helpful point to make at a time.

✨ Step 2: Build a message that actually sticks
Instead of “I make websites for every type of business.”
Try: “I design conversion-focused websites for service-based founders ready to raise their prices.”
→ Specific > vague. Every time.

✨ Step 3: Show up consistently (but simply)
→ Batch a 10-min video answering FAQs
→ Split it into 3 short posts
→ Done. You’re visible all week.

This isn’t about “doing more.” It’s about doing the right things, more consistently – in a way that works for you.

Here’s what most people get wrong:

They focus on looking like a brand…
Instead of being the face of one.

New research from confirms what I’ve been saying for a while now - founder-led brands are the future.

They’re growing twice as fast as non-founder-led brands. Even in industries like consumer products where big brands like Unilever and P&G usually dominate.

Why? Because founder-led brands do 3 key things really well:

✨ They tell a story
Not just what they do - but why they care, what they stand for, and who they are as people. And that creates connection.

✨ They move quickly
They don’t have to fight against bureaucracy, red tape or their pale, male and stale board that just don’t get it. Which is exactly what keeps them relevant.

✨ They build trust
When people know the person behind the business, they’re not just buying a product. They’re buying into a person. A mission. A message. That’s what creates loyalty.

So if you’re hiding behind a logo or playing small because you think you have to look more “professional”…

Things I’ve been told about building a personal brand 😵‍💫 and why I completely disagree 👇

1. You have to be an expert
I’ve been asked before if you need to be an expert to build a personal brand. Actually, the best personal brands are built on someone sharing their journey, their lessons, their highs and lows. So don’t think you need to know it all to get started or have something to say.

2. You have to be known for one thing only
Your personal brand should help you achieve an end goal (e.g. to help grow your business). But you’re a human, not a robot (not yet anyway) - so sharing things you like, your values, hobbies etc all help to find common connections with people, which is great for building your network.

3. You have to be ‘on’ all the time
Consistency is important but it shouldn’t feel like you’re constantly churning out content or turning your focus away from the things that matter more.

4. You have to overshare your deepest darkest secrets to create connection
Being selective and strategic with what you share is key. Sharing with intention to build connection (that rhymed!!) is a much smarter move. A good test is to ask yourself if what you’re sharing is helping you with reaching your end goal.

I’m exposing my secret (and slightly unhinged) tactics to building a personal brand 🤭

Spoiler alert: it’s not posting motivational quotes and hoping for the best.

But it’s also not being ‘on’ all the time and sharing my deepest darkest moments with the world.

These may be ‘slightly unhinged’ but they’re things I genuinely do - things that have helped me open doors to opportunities and build a strong network.

The people who get what they want don’t wait until they ‘feel ready’

That’s because…

You don’t get opportunities by sitting around quietly hoping someone just notices how good you are 😇

You get them by putting yourself out there.

I know you’re scared of being judged. It’s uncomfortable. You’re not used to it.

It’s okay to have these feelings. It’s not okay to let them stop you.

You’re not too late. You’re not behind.

You’re just one decision away from people seeing your TRUE potential.

Whatever that decision is: make it count.
