# # # 💡 4 Reasons Why Backers Don't Pledge to Your Crowdfunding Campaign

So why is it that many creators with impressive, innovative ideas launch Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns, yet receive few or no pledges?

Why do backers show little or no interest? 🤔

Raising funds for a new idea is never easy especially when you're asking for support from people who don't know you personally.

Let’s take a look at 4 solid reasons why backers don’t support most crowdfunding campaigns:

🔪 1. Confusing Campaigns

For some projects with complex concepts, this is a common problem.

Backers may be initially attracted to the campaign, but after reading through the page, they get confused about what the project is really about.

And confused people don’t buy, they leave and rarely come back 😭.

🔪 2. No Trust

Trust is crucial in crowdfunding.

As humans, we make decisions based on trust (only a fool ignores credibility).

The reason trust matters so much in crowdfunding is that people don’t support you just because you have an amazing project, they support you because they trust the people behind the project 👌.

🔪 3. “What’s in It for Me?

People’s attention spans today are shorter than ever, especially on crowdfunding platforms filled with hundreds of exciting projects.

If you don’t clearly communicate what backers will get that they truly value when they support you, it’ll be nearly impossible to attract them in the first place.

🔪 4. Low or No Faith in the Project

People support what they believe in.

When they don’t believe in a project, no matter how hard you push, they won’t support it.

One major reason people lose faith in a campaign is due to an unrealistic funding goal.

Don’t set a target that scares potential backers or makes your campaign look impractical.

Instead of setting one huge unrealistic goal, split it into two smaller campaigns, one on Indiegogo and another on Kickstarter.

This allows you to set more realistic funding goals and attract more potential backers.

These are 4 common reasons why potential backers avoid some crowdfunding campaigns, even when those campaigns are promoting impressive projects.

✅ Avoid these mistakes, and you’ll watch the pledges start to pour in!💰

Is your crowdfunding goal too ambitious? 🤔

A common challenge for campaign creators is figuring out *how much* to set as a funding goal.

Set it too high, and backers might hesitate. Set it too low, and you risk falling short of your real needs.

So, how do you strike the right balance?

💡 Here's a simple formula:

**Project costs + Rewards & incentives + Platform fees = Your Funding Goal**

Seems easy, right? But what happens when your total adds up to \$70K... or even \$100K?

Here are 3 smart strategies to handle that:

1️⃣ Split the goal
Divide your goal and run campaigns on both Kickstarter and Indiegogo.

2️⃣ Start smaller, build momentum
Set a more realistic initial goal. Then, invest heavily in pre-launch marketing to bring in early backers. Once momentum builds, others will follow.

3️⃣ Raise funds in phases
Break your project into stages and fund each one separately.

Why does this matter:
Backers are sensitive to goals that seem impossible. A realistic target builds confidence—and momentum.

✅ Get early backers.
✅ Build social proof.
✅ Watch support grow—even beyond your goal.

If you're launching a campaign soon, use these tips. You might be surprised how far they take you.

If you want people to pledge to your campaign, do this:

No outreach.
No cold DMs.
No "Just checking if you saw my email" follow-ups.

Just people supporting your Kickstarter/Indiegogo project.

Here’s the formula:
1️⃣ Have a good campaign page.

Make people understand your project, its value, and its benefits.
If you're crowdfunding for something, it's likely something totally new—something that hasn’t existed before. Your content should be strong enough to help people understand it and spark interest—or at the very least, capture the attention of your target audience.

2️⃣ Clearly define who needs this.

When it comes to crowdfunding, people are cautious about pledging. You need to understand what problem your project or product solves—and who feels that problem the most. Those are your target audience.

3️⃣ Know where to find them & how to get their attention.

Your target audience is active somewhere—Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.
Identify where they are, and more importantly, how to get their attention.

The worst thing in marketing is promoting your crowdfunding campaign with content that doesn’t resonate with your audience—and unfortunately, many people do exactly that.

4️⃣ Promote systematically, aggressively, and consistently.

The journey of a crowdfunding campaign is delicate and short. You need pledges early if you want to keep momentum going.

So once you start marketing, do it systematically, consistently, and aggressively.

Do all of this for your Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign, and watch how fast you get funded.

Startup owners and creators are failing to raise funds on Kickstarter and Indiegogo for their projects just because of one big mistake.

I recently had a chat with two amazing startup owners whose projects (really amazing ideas with great potential) failed to raise up to $1K on Indiegogo—not even 3% of their funding goal. 🙁😔

And what's their perception about their failures?

People are not interested in their idea

Indiegogo is not the right place

Crowdfunding is based on luck

All of these sound logical, but they're just not true!
Sadly, this is one of the many stories that I know of. 🙁

A lot of innovative creators and startup owners launch crowdfunding campaigns on Indiegogo and Kickstarter without understanding the critical importance of a well-crafted campaign page.

People are always interested and ready to support every new, innovative project that either solves a problem they're experiencing or satisfies a desire they have.

So why do campaigns still fail if the above statement is true? 🤷🤔

When your crowdfunding campaign page content fails to effectively:

Educate

Motivate

Clarify

Assure

Compel

Convince

You can be sure that people won't support you.

Backers are just normal people who are interested and support a project because the campaign creator has well-crafted content that compels, educates, and assures them about the project. 👌

Whenever I filter to the “ended” category on Indiegogo and Kickstarter, I'm always saddened by the massive number of amazing projects that failed to raise even 1% of their funding goal because of just one mistake:
Poor Campaign Page Content

So if you're an innovative creator on Kickstarter or Indiegogo, ask yourself this — Is my campaign page content compelling enough to grow people's interest in my project? 🤔😏🙁

If you aren't sure, we have an offer to audit crowdfunding campaigns completely for free. 🆓🥹
So how do you apply?
Send your campaign link to this Gmail and type the word "FREE AUDIT"

Your project has the potential to raise more than enough startup funds on Indiegogo and Kickstarter, but this is only possible if you follow the right strategy and principles.

Our 3-Part Formula for Viral Content
(That Works on Reels, TikTok, and Shorts)

If you're tired of posting content that gets ignored, this one’s for you.

After managing 3 seconds): Stop the Scroll

The average user scrolls faster than you can blink. You have 3 seconds (max) to grab their attention.

Example:

“This \$5 mistake is killing young content strategies across multiple campaigns and niches, we’ve found one powerful pattern behind viral videos—and we call it the 3-Part Formula. Whether you're making Reels, TikToks, or YouTube Shorts, this structure consistently grabs attention and gets shared.

1. Hook (0–ur online sales…”
Use pattern interrupts, questions, controversy, or quick movement to instantly catch the eye.

2. Build Curiosity & Deliver Value (3–15 seconds)
Once you’ve got their attention, keep it by building curiosity or quickly delivering value. Don’t waste time — get straight to the point.

Ideas:

* Share a unique tip
* Drop a surprising stat
* Reveal a bold insight

Make it useful, emotional, or unexpected.

3. Call to Engagement (15+ seconds)
You want action. Don’t just say “like and follow.” Instead, guide them to engage with intention.

Examples:
* “Tag a friend who needs to hear this.”
* “Try this and comment your results.”
* “DM us ‘strategy’ and we’ll send you our full content blueprint.”

This boosts your visibility, triggers the algorithm, and helps you grow an actual audience—not just views.

Why This Works

This formula combines psychology, storytelling, and platform mechanics. Viral content isn’t about luck—it’s about knowing how to earn attention.

Need help crafting content that actually performs? We’ve helped dozens of founders and marketers do just that. Let’s make your next video go viral.
