Content engagement on social media has an inverted U-shape relationship with content frequency. Not posting frequently enough leads to lower engagement but what you might find interesting is that posting too often has the same affect.
This study found that posts had increased engagement the more the creator posted on Instagram, up to a threshold of around 45 posts a month. Beyond this point it led to a decline in engagement.
The same is said for followers, after a point the amount of followers an influencer has can become detrimental.

So what is the relevance of Story placements? Do we really need to include them, and what’s the point when they can’t easily be found again?
Research has shown that due to the time-limited nature of Story posts, users actually tend to pay more attention.
Watching something that we can only see once only gives us one chance to understand it, and we’re worried that we might miss information. This results in a willingness to pay more attention as the availability of the information is scarce.

If you’re running a promotion you’ll need to get the details ironed out pretty quickly.
Will there be a special discount? Now is the time to encourage people to be the first in line, whether thats by joining your mailing list, following your socials or downloading an app, let them know where their eyes and ears need to be.
Or are you sacking off the idea altogether and offering something else such as Green Friday?
Just remember, if you're incentivising email sign ups, keep your mailing lists well segmented to avoid disrupting your normal list with bargain hunters.
