Adding, moving and rearranging things in your sidebar is a pretty simple task. However what to put i is another story, that’s why many site owners are trying to add as much as possible thinking that it is a smart approach. Try to remember when you open someone’s website will you actually read through the whole sidebar? Sometimes on some blog pages a sidebar is longer than an article. It might look so stuffed and busy, that it generally affects your impression of the whole web page.
So what should you add to a sidebar? First of all remember to put most essential elements on the top.
1. Opt-in form, so your visitors could sing in to your email list
2. Most important news
3. Action button which might say why somebody should “hire you”, your “price plans” or possible you are offering some “freebies”.
4. Social links
5. Search bar
6. Recent posts
7. Sales and advertisements.
The list can go on and on, but you need to bear in mind that it is vital not too overcrowd the sidebar. So be careful when you add such elements as awards, archives, tag clouds, categories and so on. Minimal approach is getting more and more popular.

Copyright is a very serious issue, which should never be neglected. Let’s speak about two scenarios. You are building a website and to make it looking nice and dynamic you want to fill it in with various images you have found online. There are billions of amazing photos, so why not to use it. However every image belongs to someone and if you did not get it from a free library like pixabay, unsplash or something similar you might find yourself in a bit of a pickle. So do not be surprised if you get an email from the owner of one of your images, who will ask you to pay for the photo usage. And believe me they will ask to pay quite a bit. So always be careful while choosing the right images for your website.

Second scenario is when you have a website with your own photos and you wish to protect them from being stolen by someone else. For example you own a beautiful photo studio and quite obvious that you have no desire to find your photos on someone else’s website without you permission. So what we can do is to disable “right click button” and people will not be able to use “save as image” and download your photos. For that function you can use such plugins like Envira Gallery or WP Content Copy Protection. While Envira Gallery is a premium plugin, it has many other useful functions such as watermark, plus sometimes it is wise to invest in something in order to protect your property.

It is a good practice to limit your WordPress website login attempts. By default a WordPress user can make unlimited number of attempts to login to a WordPress site. This allows anyone to try guessing your password until they get it right. Hence this is a very serious security issue to consider.
In order to control this, all you need to install and activate the Login LockDown plugin. It allows you to set limits on the number of failed attempts a user can make to login. Quite a simple step, which could save from serious trouble in the future. Obviously this is just one small step to prevent your website from being hacked.
