Most of us know we should keep an eye on our skin.

The challenge is spotting changes early enough to do something about them.

That's why The Arches Physiotherapy offers specialist mole screening alongside its physiotherapy services.

Led by Dermatology Specialist Nurse Ruby, appointments include a full body skin check and advanced digital imaging using the Fotofinder system. High-resolution images and dermoscopy technology can help identify warning signs that aren't visible to the naked eye, supporting earlier detection and ongoing monitoring.

Images are securely stored, making it easier to track changes over time and providing valuable comparisons at future appointments.

When it comes to skin cancer, early detection can make all the difference.

If you've been meaning to get a mole checked or simply want peace of mind, now could be the perfect time to book.

Enormous congratulations to Fairweather's Garden Centre ! 🌿

Their stunning Hosta ‘Red Ninja’ has been named RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year, generating huge excitement in the horticultural world thanks to its remarkable deep red foliage.

This latest success follows Fairweather's previous Chelsea triumph with Agapanthus ‘Blackjack’, which won Chelsea Plant of the Year in 2023.

A fantastic achievement and well-deserved recognition for the team's dedication to bringing exceptional plants to gardeners across the UK. 👏🌱

In beloved memory, and with hope this Melanoma May 🧡

Some of you have been reading this newsletter for many years now, perhaps close to ten since I first began writing it. Over that time, so many of you have supported local businesses we’ve featured and sent kind messages along the way. This week, though, I’m taking the liberty of asking for your support with something deeply personal.

Three years ago, I lost my husband Bill to melanoma. His diagnosis came suddenly and devastatingly, and despite swift treatment, we lost him just eight weeks later. Many of you will remember Bill through his involvement in our local community, from St Barbe Museum + Art Gallery and Priestlands School to Lymington Tennis Club.

This summer, our elder son, Olly is taking on an extraordinary challenge in his dad’s memory; cycling solo from Trieste to Nice across the Arc of the Alps. That’s 1,900 kilometres and 35,000 metres of climbing in just 8 days, all to raise funds for Melanoma Focus, a charity supporting research, awareness, patients and families affected by melanoma.

After the record-breaking May sunshine we’ve just enjoyed, it feels especially important to share this message. Melanoma is one of the UK’s fastest-rising cancers, yet many cases are preventable with greater awareness and protection from sun damage earlier in life.

If you would like to support Olly’s challenge and help raise awareness, you can donate here: https://vist.ly/55v3h

Thank you so much from our family if you choose to support him.

Visitors can uncover Beaulieu’s fascinating Victorian connections and discover some truly gruesome facts along the way… if they’re brave enough.

Alongside the special event, families can also explore the National Motor Museum’s brand new gallery Driven: Britain’s Motoring Story, enjoy the ever-popular Little Beaulieu adventure play area, and make the most of the many attractions across the estate.

A real highlight of the local arts calendar returns this week at St Barbe Museum + Art Gallery as the summer Open Exhibition officially opens tomorrow.

Each year, the exhibition provides a fantastic opportunity for talented artists from across Hampshire and Dorset to showcase their work, with hundreds of submissions competing for a place on the gallery walls.

With a wide variety of paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, ceramics and textiles on display, it’s not only a wonderful exhibition to explore, but also a chance to discover and purchase original artwork at surprisingly affordable prices.

This week is a wonderful opportunity to explore Myth to Maker: New Forest Folklore in New Forest Craft, an exhibition inspired by the legends and stories woven through the New Forest.

Created by a group of New Forest Marque members and local artisans, the exhibition brings ancient folklore to life through beautifully crafted pieces inspired by the Forest’s rich history and traditions.

From artwork and handcrafted objects to pieces you can wear and use, the exhibition wonderfully captures how old tales can become something tangible, liveable and real.

The wonderful Solent Music Festival opens today at St Thomas Church with Simply Symphonic, an evening of stunning string orchestra music spanning three centuries.

There’s a fantastic line-up of concerts across the week, including the family concert The Sad Snake on Tuesday for half term.

The atmosphere inside St Thomas Church when the music is in full flow is genuinely unforgettable.
